Does any one know if the B&M ripper is the only shifter that fits the supercoupe 5spd? I'm told the transmission is a Mazda truck trans{M5R2?} I've checked the Steeda Tri AX and there is nothing listed for the supercoupe. Just mustang T5/T45. Any suggestions?

The shifter is at the end of the tailshaft on the SC. On Ford trucks, the shifter is mounted over the transmission. There are unquie parts in the SC trans and not in production. So treat the one you have nice!

There was a last time ever buy that Bill Evanoff did in 2008.

As of this weekend, they were still listed at http://supercoupeperformance.com/partBrowser.aspx?category=41
$229.99.

This is a link to where bushings can be ordered.

Loose bolts holding the shifter to the tunnel seems to be an issue.

There seems to be very limited number of parts for this trans. Personally, I am watching the T56 transplants going on. It looks like for about the same money as a rebuild of the M5R2 and a Ripper shifter, a T56 could be done. Then, I would have a current transmission that parts are readily available.

I doubt that Hurst ever made a shifter for our cars. I have a good friend who worked 25 years for Mr. Gasket [here in Cleveland], who owned Hurst at the time. I can not remember the exact timeframe, '99 or 2000 maybe 2001 but my buddy contacted me with a proposition. Mr. Gasket was considering making a shifter for the SC and wanted to borrow my '91 to develop the prototype. I would get the prototype for free, out of the deal. I told him that I'd need a day or two to respond because my '89 was down for maintenance. I was going to agree [no brainer] but I was talking with Bill Evanoff the next day for another reason and mentioned the above. He then told me that one of our members worked for B&M and had gotten them to make a shifter that was almost ready to market. It probably wasn't a good idea to have two companies to building a shifter for our small market. So, I informed my buddy that B&M had beaten them to the punch and that was the end of that. B&M now owns Hurst and B&M has dropped our Ripper from production [SC no longer a viable market]. It is unlikely that Hurst picked up the torch. . .

this is for a m5r2 truck tranny modified maybe?????

Not even close. I had a ranger with the same tranny, and the forward parts were similar but the extension housing was different and how the shifter hooked up was different.

Best bet is to find something similar that will bolt down to the trans, and then rig up the shifter arm yourself. It could work if you're good with fabrication and find something close to start.

The only real issue I would be concerned of with anything fabricated is strength. the stock manual takes quite a bit of force sometimes.

i think someone is confused then and bought a hurst shift handle lol white lightning do you have any photos?
