Well the first ever run on the AR for me netted a 11.72 at 117. Last year down here I ran a 12.5x it was about 10* warmer last year. So I bolted on at least a half second with the AR over the MP3. And wanna know the best thing... the IATs where only 116 at the end of the run with the 625ml jet! I think it was makin about 20psi, I had my eyes glued to the AFR cause of my personal injecter tune. I did notice the fuel pressure was at 60psi at one point in run. It was prolly alittle lean as it was holding 11.5 with the alky spray.

Changed the injector settings this morning and that got some more fuel in it and it pulled another 11.72. Got up for the arm drop round and ran a 11.67 at 118.74 changed the shift points alittle. All in all a good weekend and the marauder ran better today too. Now to tweek that and mine. Oh and I verified that its runnin 20psi, so need to put the 10% jackshaft pulley on and really make some power!:D

Only problem I had was after a run I would have the no crank problem with the trigger wire. Need to get a shield for the starter and see if that helps, thank god we had long wait times. We missed the class by about 2 tenths.:( But I guess its not that bad cause we'd prolly be here till monday to get it all done.

The spacer on the starter seems to have fix my situation. You should give it a try..its only 5 bux and its made to fit a Ford 2 bolt starter.

Thanks guys! Pure boost and alky! Corrected ET for the 11.67 run is 11.38 at 122mph, DA was 2164 ft.

Now to get the car tuned and you can tweak the Shifts and get some of the other little things dialed in on it to optimize the combination.

I fully expect we might get to see an 11.00 pass in it by year end.

That would be awesome!

Chris you on race fuel? or 93+alky?

BLOWN38
04-27-2010, 05:00 PM
You guys think the tires were spinnin? Maybe thats why my 60s were alittle slow, 1.69? Thought I just needed the 4.10s back. No more one wheel peel! I'll post the picture I bought, the 17s where wrinkling pertty good. I don't think the car lost anything on the bottom end, I'm only a few hundredths off the 60s with 3.73s than from the mp3 with 4.10s.

Twin screws are great, but its even better when you can slap all that stuff on and somewhat tune it yourself so you can go racing. I finished putting the rear in the car at 4am friday morning then took a 3 hour nap then drove to charlotte.

Got 5 month old VP ms103 plus alky so who knows how much octane that is. I figured i run the old gas since I have the alky backup. I plan to run it just on race fuel and see what the IATs do. I also think I need to adjust when the alky comes on.

You guys think the tires were spinnin?
Hard to say actually. The first time I definitely thought I say spinning but the second time I figured maybe it's just a combination of the frame rate of the camera and the refresh rate of my screen? Anyway, with race fuel and alcohol, need to turn the boost up. What pulley combo are you using?

Don't you mean 28x10.5x15 on a LX wheel? The 10.5 is supposed to be on a 9" rim and the 16" wheel is 7", I don't know how wide the LX wheel is.

Ira, forget about a wider tire without a matching wider wheel. Those tires Sherman has dont' even fit properly on an 8" wheel.....

Great job Chris! Especially with the personal tune! It's nice to see some really fast t-birds that take the time to make them look as good as they run. You know, going the extra mile by painting your hood and stuff. It's those extra touches that really make the car look good IMO :) (yes that was a direct jab at Kurt).

Mickey Thompson has a ET Drag in 28x9x15 that would be a better fit for a LX wheel than the 11.5 tire (if you can call that fit). Their part number 3054. That is a non-dot spec tire. Hoosier has a similar tire in that size, again, no dot that narrow and that tall. pitty.

Chris's pictures are great. What air pressure did you run for those runs? I can recall the day when folks were getting 13's in the spring and figure with tweaks by the shootout they'd be hitting 12's. Now folks can start in the mid 11's and try to get that 11.0 by the shootout.

Mid 11s is a good place to be if racing in the Pro Street class, because going quicker than 11.500 will get you disqualified or force you to race in the Outlaw class with the mid to low 10 second cars.

Goal is the same as it's been since late 2008..... 450 rwhp and 11.5s with average conditions and me driving. I've got about 425 and 11.7s now, with a best of 11.60. Given all the stuff I'm throwing at this latest build, I'd really like to see something closer to 475 rwhp and 11.3s, but that's just wishful thinking at this point.

I believe that Chris is going to have to go to 28's for traction purposes. It hooked pretty well down there that day but it was scuffing the tires on launch and turning them over on the 1-2 shift. On a less prepped track it certainly would have had traction problems. As he stated the 4.10's may be needed in order to keep it more in the powerband.

There is no doubt, though we have no dyno sheet to look at, that the car would like more converter along with those changes.

I have no doubts on a good track, cool day, these changes made and some tweaking the car will go 11.0's - 10.9's.

In my mind its just a matter of time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ira, you should be good with a 28 X 9 X 15 tires on LX rims. I have used 28" X 10.50's as well with no problem other than wearing a bit more in the center of the tires. You aren't running them all the time, just for drag racing.

I'd like to see the look on your face the first time that ride rips a 1.57-1.59 60 ft LOL!!!!
