Dang. I was looking at getting a little SUV since I'll be going to Colorado, but might have to get one of these instead. Haha.

That's pretty good but how much does one of those 5.0's cost, 40k? Add the cost of the tires/rims, exhaust and 3.73 gears and you add a few more thousand. I'll take my 15k supercoupe and wax it.................

Fully loaded around $40k, but knock off some of the expensive goodies (Nav, Brembo brakes, glass roof) & you could get one for around $34k.

Am I going to get one? Maybe, but all the horsepower in the world doesn't make up for those ugly tail lights! I'm just really impressed by the technology of today's supercar race. For those of us old enough to remember the musclecar era of the 60's & 70's, a 400 hp car would need over 400 cubic inches & get about 12 mpg on the highway. Now they're doing it with less displacement, & getting 26 mpg highway!

You kill me with the tail light hang up.......................:D

But you're right, those are impressive times for basically an off the shelf car.

You know, I never noticed the tail lights until I read your post and looked up more pictures. I'm not sure how, but I must've been focusing on something else when I first read about them.

You ARE right though, those tail lights are ugly as ****.

Yeah, I positively hate those tail lights. I waited until the 2010's came out because I heard they were receiving some cosmetic upgrades. Once I saw them I jumped on an '09. The new front end is cool, & the interior upgrades are good, but that a$$ end is awful. Plus the hump on the rear fender comes straight off the hideous Dodge Charger.

Mike,
Are you still planning on coming down for the Mustang show this summer?

It's not looking good since I only get 1 week of vacation this year. We both want to go back there & visit friends, so we might pick a 3-day weekend & fly out vice drive.

Sounds good, do you still want a ride in an 11 sec. SC? Drove it some more last night and with street tires and no traction it gets squirrelly as hell...........

I'm sure the 4.10 gears I'm installing won't help traction on the street but will tighten up my track times............;)

You might want to rethink the 4.10's.....

The reason I'm going with the 4.10's is that my track tires/slicks are 28" tall. I know that Chris Vinning has been running 4.10's with 26" tall slicks. Would your reason for not running 4.10's be because of trap rpms being to high at the end of the run or something else?

I told him he was crazy for going to 4.10's....... He said it was because he wanted to run 28" tall tires .

The 5.0's started to hit the Indy area yesterday, & I got my hands on one. VERY impressive! I did about a 15 mph kickdown in 1st, then WOT thru 2nd & 3rd. I shifted at around 6200 or so, not quite all the way to redline. Very smooth torque curve, & I could definitely feel the difference between 412 hp & my 09 with around 320 hp or so. My only complaint (besides the tail lights) was the sloppy shifter. They have a 2011 GT 500 sitting on the showroom floor, & it has a nice short-throw shifter. Why they wouldn't just drop that in the new GT I have no idea.

If I pushed the issue they'd probably let me because they know I almost bought one last year.

Thinking about doing this (http://www.fordracingpartsdirect.com/Ford_Racing_2005_2010_Mustang_GT_Top_End_Package_p/m-fr4-s197.htm) to mine sometime in the future.
