Hey to all....another great year at Carlisle...not so great year at the Hotel Carlisle....Place is falling apart. Looking into already finding a better hotel close to the fairgrounds as we are. Thanks again Damon and John Miller for all the stuff you did getting Carlisle the fun event it was this year.

Congrats to the winners this year...
1994-95 Rico 1st, Don O'Neal 2nd, Tim Groth (the boob man) 3rd
1992-93 Dave Ward 1st, Ken Seegers 2nd, Ben Wenger 3rd
1989-91 Bill Evanoff 1st, Mark Barrett 2nd, Rico 3rd with his 35th Anniversary

Again, lets get the show to where it was in previous years....We need numbers and a plan to make it all happen

Looking into the Hampton Inn in Carlisle...Really nice and closer to the field

Will look into other Hotels during my stay in the Truck nationals this year.

We have a great crowd and I wanna try to get a North East meet together for us. I will also post when local (so called local) events are coming up that are large.

Thanks for a great time guys!!!

Don

Well the engine went south on me driving to gate 3 this afternoon. Don't know what happened? Just missed a little then tick, tick, tick...Pulled over immediately and let it cool down. It started hard, then started knocking, only was on for about two seconds til I turned it off. I am pretty sure rod bearing.:( Had it towed home by AAA 96 miles for free. Thank God I just renewed my AAA membership before I came down.
Time to pull it out and see what went wrong. Should have it out this week, engine puller is here tomorrow.
No more bs'n I got work to do now.

Mark its only a matter of time before the stock motors go on the mod motors under boost. Sorry to here your bad news..Happed to me twice!..Third time was forged pistons manley rods and a steel crank!

I had the Red 93 SC with the front mount. I just got the SCU heads and cam and other stuff done not too long ago and carlisle was the first road trip. I guess I should have pulled the engine and put new bearings and what not in it while I did the heads and stuff. Time to talk with DD.

MagpoweredSC
06-06-2010, 10:27 PM
Have to pull it and find out. I am not starting it again as it will only damage it more. Hope the heads are ok, they should be it happened driving up a small, but steep hill like 3-5 lbs of boost, I feel really stupid, but at the same time I view it as positive because now I can get an upgraded bottom to go with the top. I should have known better:o, but hindsite is always 20-20 . Need real guages After that dyno tune and she'll be set. At least the tow guy was cool.

Damon,

Actually....George Davenport made sure we had the tent, table and chairs as he does every year since we "lost" having the "right" to having same due to our lowering pre-registration numbers.

XxSlowpokexX
06-06-2010, 11:09 PM
I have a Mark dash plaque that hasnt be called for!

Duffy..What good are you then? J/K

Goerge really needs to show up again and show everyone just how sweet his SC is..Preferably with that polished whipple he has

How many preregistrations do we need for free tent?

It's a shame I didn't get to go. Unfortunately, I was unable to take leave in time. I'm hoping I can make up for it by actually showing up to the Shootout this year.

We need 25 pre-registrations from the previous year to count towards a tent the following year.

And as far as what good I am???.....I guess not much other than I pre-register and show up.

I do select the Adam Mullen Memorial Award winner each year though....does that count for anything?????

A big thanks to everyone involved in making this year's Carlisle a great success. Don, Damon, Duffy, J. Miller and George, you guys really know how to keep this club together, organized and fun for all - again THANK YOU!

Our fleet rolled in last night around 730pm - lucky on the way home we had zero problems and we didn't even have to make 1 pit stop. Kind of like my SC's finally decided to let us take a rest for a change.

Also a special thanks to everyone who lended a hand on replacing my Pumpkin after it went south on the way to the show. Without the help of the club members I am sure I would have been in a far worse place.

Only picture I have is of Liz's Trophy Outside of Olive Garden - Rest are on the Digital Camera.

Diddo with the thanks to everyone that made this years event so much fun and a big success. Looking forward to next year already. It was great building friendships with the guys I meet last year and meeting other members for the first time. Looking forward to seeing everyone again next year or at other car shows.

I had the best and I mean the best time I have ever had in Carlisle I dont think I can top that.

From Racing a NSX up to 135MPH on the way back and creaming it, to Autocrossing with Mike Tuck on Sunday morning and going wheeling at the same time. To going to a local diner Sunday morning and getting to know a work leave inmate named MISTY, BTW she will be there at the parking lot with her friends next year I promise. ;)

And getting a hug from the nice Hooters girl although she called me OLD
Getting scared by the sound of HAIL on the roof of my car.
Seeing my friend getting humiliated on a chair at Hooters
And me getting Humiliated by a trivia game at Hooters.
Placing with both my cars  And gettin 1st in one.
Go karting till 1am
Drinking in the lots till 3am

And most importantly of all BOTH, CARS MADE IT HOME IN ONE PIECE.

Lots on lots of fun. By far MY BEST :)

Thanks Damon for all the hard work, Duffy and all of the sponsors.

Oh and I won some magnetic oil plus......Two of them to boot.

Oh and thanks TIM for bringind 4 nice things to look at. And I know you brought 3 cars....:)

I brought up the fail video on the album.

And for those that can do it better, well i didnt see your car there ;)

JK, I lost it. the tires were very cold and we did not really have time to get them warm. Although it does not look intense on the video. It was a handfull track. Biggest problem was the Fences that protected it the short distance between it and the track. Still I gave it all it had, too bad the tires didnt really agree to with me. It was a second gear track but at times 3.27 were needed to keep it from booging down too much.

I can't believe I have been going to this event for 11 years and never knew the autocross was right there! That's an awesome video, I watched some of the autocross but only saw 2 Mustangs and a turbo Focus :( Next year I'm sooo auto crossing the SC with the new suspension :D

Damon, it was great meeting you and also caravaning out with you NY guys! Thank you for organizing such an awesome weekend! It was one of the best I can remember out there. I hope I can be of some help to you next year...

It was also great "meeting" some more of the SCCoA guys although next year I need to put names to some faces... LOL

Thanks to all the put it together; was one of the best ones that I have attended. Looking forward to next year; maybe this economy will get turned around and more can attend. The weather, except for the driving rain storm on Friday night, was great. The go-carts were a blast; after hitting a few people, I learned that it hurts to do the hitting too, so I did another tactic where I would turn the guy in front of me around and let the guy behind me do the hitting; I had a lot less bruises this year. We need to put the road course on the agenda for next year, alot of fun. Thanks again to all that put it on.

I've been busy at work this year and I haven't been able to make it to ANY SC event since I owned one (10 years). This NEEDS to change and I hope to make it to an event this year for the first time. They always sound like a blast and I'd love to be a part of it.

I'm guessing due to mass, everyone gave up on trying to wipe you out, thus you had a free pass around the track, which also allowed you to build up a good head of steam to plow others.

I was thinking it had to be a converter problem. But like I told you in Carlisle. Im just gonna do the whole tranny over. probably going to go to Level 10. they said $2500 or $3000 for new one to drop in. But I want my Vin #'s to match and save $500 of course lol

Damon, what do you think about this ?

http://www.mandrelexhaustsystems.com/servlet/the-116/92-dsh-97-THUNDERBIRD-EXHAUST-TUBING/Detail

You DO NOT want to build your stock transmission. teh 94-95 transmissions suck. Even built they suck. I went through many a rebuild till I just swapped it out for a later model case tranny. Alan cn lead you with a proper converter and transmission. There ar eno vin numbers to match on your transmission and you want to hold onto it it makes a great boat anchor!

As for the exhaust a few have used that. SOme with great success others needed some work. EIther way its not a direct bolt in but a portion of what you need. Do you have someone who can do exhaust for you? I am getting a new one soon and have someoen in mind on LI. Let me know when your ready

As for ALan

Just an FYI... My personal experience with Level 10 was not a good one at all. They did the trans on my Wife's old 90 and I was very unhappy with it. I went back and spoke to Pat many times about it but in the end nothing happened. I had the trans redone with Lentech stuff and it was nothing short of AMAZING.

Contact Alan Dirty Dog on the Forum..He will hook you up with what you need from tranny to converterI'll second that. I'm very happy with my Dirty Dog transmission and convertor. I am running a Lentech VB and my own cooler choice, but Alan did everything else.

I do not have experience with Level10, but I do with Art Carr....and after 2 of their transmissions, never again.

Level 10 use dto be a very good company.. But when the Ford thung blew up so did they. Hard for a small company to keep quality up when expanding rapidly (toyota)

Transmission shops do many different transmissions...Specializing in our transmissions is a whole other thing. 99% of transmission shops out there dont even know what to do to our transmissions.

Typically they will do a shift kit and red alto friction disks and tell you that your transmission is much better then stock. Maybe they will put in a mechanical diode and go now your cooking...Im telling you that if any of them say they can make your factory 94-95 SC transmission that is in your car now into a performance peice...Go elswhere. Because whatever you do to it its crap. Seems your going to do what you want. But you wont get a beter deal or transmissionthan ALan can give you. He knows his crud and knows what is needed

My guy ain't really like that. He just said he can give it a better first gear. He specializes on ford, chevy and buick trannys. Particularally mustangs, camaros and grand nationals. He's pretty to the point and with no bs.

Where's this other guy located. I'd like to check him out also
what you were telling me in carlisle about putting a mustang tranny in the sc? How is that different?

XxSlowpokexX
06-11-2010, 12:34 AM
The 94-95 sc transmission is a poor design. The later model 3.8 stang transmission has a better case and overall design. Certain things need to be done however to make it work. And you start with that core and build it. People that specialize in these transmissions know, As I said. Typical guy will rebuild with a mechanical diode alto friction..

Also I believe the sc transmission already has the wide ratio gearing that you are talking about. The SC has an 4r07w not an AODE which doesnt have the wide ratio gearset.

None of them are perfect. Even he has had issues in the past. My Local Level 10 shop does great work. Still when it comes to transmission shops it all depends on the talent in the facility. Some are good and some are not so good. It is best to define the work and modifications as much as possible when placing the order. I usually put it in writing. Then there will be no disputes.

The other main issue with the 94/95 4R70W is the valve body. If you keep the transmission you need to at least find a 1999-2000 4R70W Mustang/ CrownVic valve body in the bone yard or go after-market.

Even then the transmision body is garbage. Best just getting the later model transmission which already has the mechanical diode, valvebody, deep sump pan..And you will still have to repin the MPLS for a Tbird and change teh torque converter solenoid to teh earlier unit. IMO again it's just easier to go to someone who specializes in your transmission and...Tbirds.

Of course every transmission shop will say they specialize in your tranny... That goes without saying.

ALSO I dont get a dime of off advertizing for Alan. As a matter of fact I generally just do my own transmission work to an extent.

All I can ssay is give him a call and see if you feel comfortable..If you dont go elswhere. But garunteed youll get more fo ryour money with him and probably a better end result

I made all those changes in the Cat but most of the work was done before the new models came out.

You can't just throw any newer transmission in. I believe the 99-2002 should work with the changes you mention. You will need to research which vehicle they come out of. Just getting any newer 4R70W may make things more difficult than desired.

Did I accuse you of being a spokes man? ;)

You can try Darren (http://bc-automotive.com/) too.

Are we getting a little off topic here?

Manny,

Get Alan to send you a transmission and converter. And have it put in over here by someone. If you dont know anyone I have a buddy of mine local who installs stuff for me when I dont have time, or room. Hes very reasonable. You could probably even have the transmission shipped to his shop. Just let me know. I just want you to be happy with the car and to stay with us!

2000-2002 Mustang V6 transmissions work as well.. BTW to make them 550rwhp capable requires

A.) Low Mileage transmission from Junkyard

B.) Roughly $300 in parts from Alan

C.) Kick ~~~ torque convertor from Alan

I oversimplified it but thats what it comes down to.

And my experience with Level 10 is they stand behind their product.. But their product is poo so you wont catch me spending $2500 for a tranny from there EVER again..

Hey Dennis. Also thanks for the info. Why didnt you make it to Carlisle this year?

So now im debating to rebuild my tranny from one of the guys everyone has mentioned or to buy a mustang tranny. How difficult are the mods for that to put it in my SC. You know me, i just dont want too many headaches. But want a great tranny. I'm a firm believer in doing things once and doing them right.

Only if he has a boat that needs an anchor. Talk to him see what he says. Id just stay away from building the stock transmission. I went through 4 built ones with my red SC before I upgraded.

Tranny is going sooner than later lol I hoped this wouldnt happen but oh well.

I can't wait. My car will finally start running normal again with sone aggression. Allen got me an 02 mustang tranny with 4k on it. He's gonna work his magic with some other mods and his converter.

I'm gonna drive up their tuesday morning should get there by 6pm. He's gonna install it overnight and I'll be out the next day. i might add the 45000 btu tranny cooler and a shift kit.

any one know if Royal Purple tranny fluid is bad or what not for ford trannys?

Allen suggested i not use it but i spent $100 on it a few months ago... any suggestions? if i have to get another fluid its prob gonna be amsoil.
