Pulley Problem

I have an '89 SC and there is a loud almost rapping noise coming from the engine. On taking off difference serpentine belts, I've narrowed the noise source down to either the lower right tensioning pulley or the double idler pulley right above that drives the Supercharger.

1) Is this a typical problem and is one more pulley prone to getting noisy (going bad) than the other? The tensioning pulley appears to be plastic, so I was guessing it's not that.

2) What's the procedure for fixing whichever pulley is the problem?

Thanks

I see they have replacement steel pulleys for the tensioners. Do they just unbolt with the large bolt that's in front of the pulley?

Are these what usually fail? The car does have over 100K miles. I was thinking it was the steel jackshaft double-grooved-pulley that was making the rapping noise because it's so loud and mechanical. I can't tell, though.

The stock pullies are known to fail after time. You can replace them rather cheaply, under $20 each, using Dayco 89053 steel idler pullies, or equivalent from a local parts store.

The pullies simply unbolt and reinstall, very simple to do.
