Missing dust shields on 93 spindle swap..Big problem?

The dust shields on my 93 spindles are missing the dust shields, is this a huge deal? Can I run without them until I find replacements?
 
yea the car will still brake, might have a better chance of getting some road debris caught up in there causing a squeak or something but, you can drive without.
 
I say that its a big deal because you have a chance of picking up debris that can reak havoc on the brakes. Also, if I'm not mistaken, they also help with cooling.
 
Can I make the ones off my 89 spindles work?

With some crafty re-bending, could they be made to work?
