You heard it here first - the 2010 SC Shootout is returning to KilKare Raceway October 2-3. We have confirmed the car show / dyno day at Precision Autosports for Saturday and have reserved the track for racing all day Sunday.

The website has not been updated yet, but details will emerge over the next few days as we get that up to date. In the mean time, clear your calenders for October 2-3!

Someone should call Pinks or Pass Time and have them make it an even larger event, all the top SC's in one place with national tv coverage....think about it. I bet they would love the fact that we got cars for whatever spread they pick too;)

Oh where the hell is kilkare raceway. I dont like that name Kill CAR raceway...or am I mis-pronouncing

demann

If its the place I think it is, it is pronounced "Kill Care" and it is east of Dayton Ohio. It is real close to where I grew up, and I have been there a couple of times as a spectator.

Kilkare has been a great track in the past for the Shootout....Heck, it's Tony's favorite track (or at least his car's favorite track). It is located outside of Dayton.

I've already reserved vacation from 9/28-10/5 :D

I dont know Ken, I saw some for sale items from Casey recently, that gives an indication that Casey will be force fed without any parasitic losses.
And he can drive a M5R2 speed like no ones business so..watch out.

If I do go Ill be running hight 12 low 13s right along Iras car :p
But if I fix this darn fuel problems with a Boost a pump or something then watch out I might just turn on the juice and be the fireworks for the day.

I really wish you guys kept doing this even on the last or second to last weekend of a month. Us Accounting folks or other folks that deal with corporate or small business paper work. Knows that the 1st week or every month is time for reporting and closing out the prior month.

How did the racing, after the standard eliminations, work? I completely forgot.

Class winners raced each other using their class index as their time.

CMac89

I understand that, but did they use index as a dial-in for bracket racing?

I think they used the class index that they came from.

Kurt K
07-05-2010, 11:28 AM

Yes, the class index was used as the dial-in. Lucky for me, two of my opponents broke out because I was nowhere near the index last year.

nickleman60
07-05-2010, 11:30 AM
I think they used the class index that they came from.

Correct, for example Kurt had to dial an 11.50, his class, even though he never ran faster than 11.7. I had to dial in a 12.70, my class, and I broke out against Kurt in the finals with a losing 12.41 to his winning 11.7?.

I would appreciate if the thread could stay on topic so that people wanting to find out information relating to date and location of the Shootout could find it.

Regardless, since you guys insist on pushing the issue on rules, I will confirm with the track that NHRA rules will be followed. In the past we have been lenient with respect to rules in the spirit of letting people have fun but since all have made a docemented public case out of what the rules will and will not be (yes these threads/posts can be used in court to prove liability and intent) , due to liability reasons, we will revert back to NHRA regulations. Be prepared, or be prepared to be prevented from competition.

Very do-able.

Is this an all guys, fueled with fuel thing. I have a couple of daughters 15 & 16 that I'm trying to warm up to cars that don't look or sound like Prisms.

Would like to make it a roady. I have no problem with a couple of twisties thrown in but not full court press.

Glad to see it's coming back to Dayton. Kilkare's new owners must have realized they were chasing away the small clubs with their outrageous rental fees. I'm trying to get a trailer to bring down my 92 from Michigan and get it ready for the shootout. I said I'd have an SC at the shootout this year and I don't want to let myself down.

If the Ramada fills up, shoot me a PM, I am local in the Dayton/Xenia area and can help with finding hotels, might be able to put some people up on the base which is 15 mins from the track. I wish I could help out with more for the shootout but Dave seems to already have worked the deal with Kilkare and Precision Autosports.

FYI Precision moved into Xenia farther. They aren't back in the little business park where they were for the 2008 Shootout. I haven't been to their new building yet since I live 5 mins from Quick Rev.

One last thing, if anyone gets into town Thursday, you can come out to Kilkare for test and tune. It runs Thursdays from 5:00 pm to 10 pm. Me and Chris Keggan (CobraRThunder) are there every week.

I think it is something that the cooks have to decide based on which logistics work best. This isn't the same hotel as last year. Different layout, different parking lot, a more public location.

It may very well be easier to host the dinner at the dyno shop but there are two things to consider about that as well. First, someone said they moved again. Does the new location have as mush room as the old. And secondly although one would think that hosting the dinner away from the hotel would (should) cut down on the drinking it may not.

And of course will dyno shop even allow it given that we will have just finished cleaning up from lunch.

XR7 Dave
08-06-2010, 09:55 AM
... have as mush room as the old.....

I can see what Jeff can round up for us. Although with mushrooms and beer I'm thinking that we'd end up with even more people waking up in dumpsters than before. Not sure that is a good over-all idea.

We keep talking about it but it's a lot of work for the folks who run things. More often than not the introductions happen in the failing sunlight of the hotel parking lot and go more along the lines of:

Hey.

KenName tags have been talked about in the past. It just never happens. I'm horrible with names, but it usually only keeps me from introducing people to my wife.

Typical conversation with my wife after talking to someone at the shootout:

wife: "Who was that?
me: "I don't remember his name, but I met him at the Shootout 2 years ago."
wife: "Oh, OK"

All you have to do is act like you know people before you even meet them. The only way people forget is because they don't make it memorable. In order for them to remember you, you have to do something they can remember you by.

Go up to somebody, slap them on the bum, say "good game" (that makes it no homo), and ask them if they want to see your car. While you're on the way to your car, slide across the hood, and don't catch yourself whenever you slide off. Instant memory!!

Room reserved, can't wait. Hopefully I can make it to the track for some practice before hand.

I'm planning to go to the track Tuesday night for a couple test passes. It's still pretty hot around here so I don't expect great numbers, but I should still get an idea of what it will run at Kilkare.

Kurt, if you ever need somebody to split the costs of a room with, you know who to go to. :)

Make sure you bring extra bedding materials, though!

I might need to come visit you after the racing!

I've rebuilt (or replaced with newer) everything in front of the transmission...universals, rear end, most rear suspension is getting pretty old! Not sure how many more launches they can take!

If you will be participating in the car show, eating the food, or being recognized in general - you will need to be registered. The cost is not as high as if you are racing, but you still need to pay and let the organizers know that you're there.

If you just want to swing by at hang out in the parking lot or at the race track, you probably don't need to register, but you will have to pay a spectator fee at the race track.

You'll see when the registration is open. :)

If you are getting the syntax error it is because you did not select # of children. If -0-, then you'll need to state such. Working on a fix.

Just FYI, if you are racing and bringing someone who is spectating only, please make sure they are added in your cart as a non-competitive pass. If they are paying seperately please PM or email and let me know.
Thanks,
