The OEM seal has a metal cover on it. Be careful and drill a small hole in it and then screw a small screw into it. Then pull on the screw. It will pop right out.

on to the tubes and top

theres no way i could have been sealed and the blue rtv from the top was mostly at the top of the inter cooler. got teflon for the top and going with copper for the tubes. thought about leaving bottom tube alone but at this point i feel i should do it all. now off to un do the secret hidden lower ic tube bracket bolt...http://s989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/anlo_33/

Use high temp RTV to reseal the top and IC tubes. Teflon gasket won't hold much pressure on the top, but they work well on the IC tubes.

or do a front mount best mod so far.. dont have to deal with thos dumb stock ic connections leakin:rolleyes:

I've been using the teflon gaskets every where I could on my last two sbirds and won't go back to RTV. I've got them on the upper and lower IC tubs, the top, behind the VB and one other place (under the whatchmacallit).

done almost .......

finished sealing all intercooler connections seems good however didnt switch out snout seal since it looked so good after cleaning......(dummy me ) its leaking so i will throw on new seal tomorrow.
the latest question is the supercharger top gets really really hot to the touch even after 2 hours of sitting. all other parts of supercharger unit(body snout and tubes cooled down considerably to a normal heat range. but the top is still hot hot. could this be low on sc fluid from the leak symptom??
note:when i got the car i put a whole bottle of sc fluid in and didnt even fill it..up to the bottom of threads.. any ideas on the superhot supercharger top???

Because blower outlet temps are hotter than anything else on top of the motor, and the blower acts as a heat sink when the motor is shut off, and heat rises. Being low on oil isn't helping, but even when properly filled it's still going to be hot.

PS: Get a real snap ring to replace that flimsy seal retaining wire after replacing the seal.

all done

just a graphic to go along

i really want to change transmission fluid and filter but as the old saying goes....." dont mess with it if its working..." but i know it would love some lucas in there...???
