before i did my headgaskets my valve covers were loose about every 6 months leaking oil . when i did the headgaskets , i deleted the valve cover gaskets and used rtv and used it on the threads of the bolts too . and left it dry all nite
now all has been well for 2 or 3 years

Well, I'll be certain to keep this in mind. Mine are starting to leak.
I do hope I don't have to take a whole mess of stuff off to get the drivers side. What all does that entail?

what valve cover gasket did you use. when I assembled my 1992 i used the blue fel-pro ones they have metal sleves where the bolts go so you dont over tighten them.. I used a dab of blue lock tite on threads and torqued them down to what ever all-data listed as the spec and they are nice and sealed up. no leaks and they are not all squished out the sides either.

originally it had the blue rubber with spacers but the bolts kept coming loose till i glued them with rtv
