View Full Version : EGR delete

I have all ready deleted my EGR on my 94 5spd (for the convenience of removing intake tube and manifold) CEL comes on after about 5 to 10 min. of driving. I left the DPFE and the EGR vacuum actuator plugged in on the harness and caped the vacuum line for the EGR. I plugged the manifold and JB welded the intake tube shut eliminating the EGR tube.

my question is can I get my computer tuned to eliminate the EGR function or do I have to get a chip made to do this and if so where can I acquire one?

You will need a chip to fix your CEL, contact XR7Dave for a chip and tune.

Thank you! Just what I thought. When I searched old posts it was not clear if I needed a tune or just a chip or both.

The terms tune and chip are essentially interchangeable. A tune is stored on a chip, which is installed in the computer. If you install a tune, you have to install a chip. If you install a chip, it will likely have a tune on it.

That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

I've been running a chip for over a year no problems. $65
