Just cuz Im board and have nothing else to do. I am curious what bracket all you shootout racers feel you will be in and also what you feel you will be running for times in that bracket. Try to be honest here;)

Guessing by my HP numbers I'll likely be in Pro Street, no idea on the ET. I am really hoping to get a couple Test n Tune nites in before the shootout, to get an idea what its capable of.

Well judging by the smack, sounds like Casey thinks he can run in Outlaw, so i guess I better be there to whip up on some turblows.

I'm pretty sure the range for Pro Street is 11.50 - 12.199, not 12.099. There was a typo on the sc-shootout website last year. I considered filling my trunk with a little weight last year to slow my car to 12.1 last year, but was then informed the the cutoff was 12.2....I wasn't going to slow things down that much and took my chances in Pro Street....Glad I did :D

First I've heard about that. There is supposed to be a .599 second spread in every class. These are from the official rules.

1) Stock: 14.500 and slower.

2) Super Stock: 13.900-14.499.

3) Mod 1: 13.300-13.899.

4) Mod 2: 12.700-13.299.

5) Mod 3: 12.100-12.699.

6) Pro Street:11.500-12.099

7) Outlaw:11.499 and quicker.

8) Bracket ET: any ET allowed.

I'll either be in Pro street or Outlaw, depending on which car I bring, what kind of numbers I run during the time trials, how strict the track is going to be on safety rules and what numbers some of the other guys are running.

I'm mainly interested in beating Kurt this year, so I'll probably be racing in Pro Street with my 91 SC.

I have no idea where I'll be!

Stock 90 lower end with MILD port heads, ported manifolds, bigger exhaust, 94 tank with 255 pump, 94 M90, 10% pulley, 93 MAF, BBK TB, CAI, Stock IC(unless a DIC comes my way by then). Oh and unless I get some wild hair... STREET Fuzion tires.

I would think... not much faster than Stock or maybe Super Stock?
What do you think?

My guess would be 14's or so. If you get a better intercooler possibly high 13's, you are definately going to need it if your going to run the 94 blower with 10% OD.

Ok, I voted SuperStock as a GOAL for the shootout!

Who knows what will happen, might have to find some better slicks to bring with me for racing!? hhhmmmm??

I'll probably be in Mod 3 this year, though I won't know for sure until I make a pass in the car.

Ryan

Curious, replace R8's late model blower with MPX, he gets the DIC, with 10%.

Chipped tune, stock block.

I had a stock long with an MPx, 15% OD run 13.2. The following year sold the MPx, installed an MP inlet with a ported 94 blower that I did with 20% OD ran 13.1. I then installed heads/cam ran 12.5. The MP inlet on the 94 blower made a huge difference, so if he does not have that I would either get one or go for the MPx.

Its kinda hard guess what he would do, it could pickup a tenth or could be a few.

I find in pretty wild how these motors want to perform.

I keep seeing tweeked improvements to induction and exhaust and the gains are substantial.

My gut feeling is these engines are clydsdales.

I talked to somebody in Wash. State the other day .. Stock block but he was pounding the intake with the Snow System...Stock Intercooler, home ported early blower low 13,s on a built AOD. Punched out a couple of 2010 Camaro's already.

I sometimes rent space off an ex bike racer. He used to do all the fabrication for ESM. They do a fair bit of exhaust work for Snowmobiles and Bikes.

The example he gave me was the Yamaha 650 Snowmobile. They wanted to introduce at 94 HP. He built the pipe and dyno'd 117. They came back with "Nice Job" turn it and beat it up. Were still introducing at 94 hp.

He also mentioned that on pipe 3 ft or longer away from the block with introduced restrictions, there was no appreciable difference in flow. He said they beat on pipe pretty good and the numbers didn't change.

I know you've had success making these motors sing the right tune.

Appreciate the input

Paul

Not sure how good the driver will be with a new set up a few days before the shoot out. I think i should be in Mod 3 at least. Now if the driver can learn to drive the car consistently with all the new parts will be another story.

Well, I'll line up with you!
IF that makes you feel better!

At least that way you don't get a by-run!

You better cut a good light, I think I have a chance...
Maybe IF you red light my SuperStock could win MOD1!

YAHOO!!!!

Hey, you can't win if you don't play!
Never get the trophy girl if you don't ask!

I've never even been on a drag strip!
Never lined up or hit the pedal off a 1/4mile drag light!

this will be my first time so I am looking forward to it!
Can I get a couple runs before I try to step up?
Heck I might even be in that class when I'm done and do not even know it!

Plenty of time early in the day to practice.

I think you can change after the qualifying(practice) runs.

I think you can change after the qualifying(practice) runs.

That's correct, make as many practice runs as you want and then you pick your class to fit your times. Then you run 1 qualifying run in your class and that determines your spot in the class match ups.

I'd feel better if you had a 5-speed too....I just gotta practice I guess.

Well depending on how this thing runs when I am done I may be in that class anyway!

See you there!

I cannot drop the gauntlet yet as I really do not know where it will be when I am done!

But I am ALWAYS up for some competition, so... LET'S RACE!
