I guess all you guys and your SC's are scared to show at the JBMN's this year and have a little fun. Its been awhile since any of you have participated up here.

Why don't you make plans and head on up for the weekend. We'd like to see you.

Steve, I'm not scared, I just don't have the means to tow my car up there. Hopefully that'll be changing soon but I don't believe in time to attend an August event.

Heck, I could possibly be one of the top dogs there(with my new secret upgrades).............................

I'm not running a big shot, at least no more than in the past. I'll always have race gas in it when I hit the track. Remember........I'm at a distinct disadvantage when running against the top dogs with Whipples, AR's and Turbos. I'm not worried about any M90's though......I think I have them covered..........

Kevin Leitem doesn't count in the M90 catagory.....he's in a class by himself.......:D

Keith, It'd be nice to see you make it up. I understand your predicament being a SC and all. But you would have fun and you only have to run it as hard as you choose to! Besides, I just know you want to put that thing on the "Top Dawg" list here. :D

I can't guarantee anything about the breaking part. That could happen anywhere. But as Chris mentioned, we do have a place to put one if it breaks until arrangements can be made. Its been done before and can be done again.

I also have a truck and can get a trailer, so worse case scenario it would cost you my gas money down and back to your place if ever needed. This has been done before too. Like Chris said though, run the good fuel and don't be too afraid.

Besides, on the weekend here we've swapped halfshafts, pulled trannies and all kinds of stuff when we've had to so let that be your guide. I don't have a shop per se but we get the job done with help.

You guys down there bring it on and come have a good time.:D

I have to tell you I have been making this trip each year for a while now and if it wasn't for this attitude and the ability of this group to pull it together I would never bring the car. In fact they have already bailed my butt out and helped get us home on an occasion or two.

If something is going to break it's going to break and this is one place where I don't worry about if it does.

Registration will be extended until morning August 15th. After that all interested parties must contact me on a 1 -1 basis to see if we have room. I have to let the caterer know by Monday the actual count. I also have to know car count by then as a last minute change to trophies.

Can you ask him? I wouldn't mind going to this meet if I get everything before then. Dave had a friend that wanted to sell his truck so I checked it out yesterday and we made a deal. It's a 2001 2wd F350 Crew Cab short bed with a 7.3 Powerstroke turbo diesel. it's in great shape and only has 97k on it.

On behalf of the MAMN12, The SCCOA is again invited to attend this years JB/BK Memorial Nationals - SB9 2010.

The event itinerary, room accomodations and information is listed below. New for this year is a Saturday 4 hour block track rental with the NVMC at Mason Dixon dragway. A great time to test and tune your car, grudge race for bragging rights or whatever. More information is provided below.

Again, we welcome you to bring your cars and participate at this event. It is for all MN12, FN10's, Foxbody Cougar-Tbird etc. Those that may want to participate or sponsor giveaways at this event please contact me at mtncatracing@wmconnect.com

Thanks!! I hope to see all of you here.

Steve (1MTNCAT)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This will be the Itinerary for this years Event. This is a bit different with a little bit of scheduling change on Saturday due to an extended opportunity for track time.

Friday August 20 - Meet and Greet at my home Beginning at 6PM - Till??

Saturday August 21 - ***NVMC/MAMN12 Track Rental 8AM - 12 Noon!!
(Run what you brung and hope to hell you brung enough)(Grudge Racing & TNT)!!

Police Escort from Hotel lot to Pinic/Show area 1:30 PM
Line-up on showfield and picnic starting at 2:00 PM
Car Show Judging from 3:00 - 4:00 PM?
Awards presentations from 4:00 - TBD
Evening cruise upon completion of Awards ceremony

Sunday August 22 - 8 AM Meet in Hotel Parking lot to cruise to Mason Dixon for the ALL FORD Nationals Car Show/Drag Race competition. Upon completion return home.

*** The NVMC/MAMN12 Track Rental will start running promptly at 8AM. The reason I chose to do it this way is so we have 2 opportunities to make runs on the weekend. The last couple years it seems we've been rained out. The NVMC event just happens to be the Saturday of our picnic this year so it all works out. So everyone knows, this is a 4hour racing block. We will have numerous opportunites to line up against each other at this event for bragging rights. Choose who you want to run and get her done!!!! The cost for this event is pre-pay $52 for Car Driver and 1 passenger/Pit crew. It is NOT MANDATORY to participate or attend this if you do not want to. If you have something else you'd rather do on Saturday morning, that's fine. But I will need to know who plans to go and get the prepays in by August 10th. Here is the link to pre-pay for the event. Please include MAMN12 car club, car type, year, & name in the paypal so we can keep this straight.

Send Prepayments to: Enforcir@gmail.com if you are using Pay Pal. $52.00 for car/driver and 1 passenger/pit crew.

Sunday's All Ford Event will work the same way it has in the past, with those that want to show going to the show field when we get there and the rest heading to the pits for Drag Racing segment. Prices should be similiar to those last year.

If there are any questions or concerns about this email me @ mtncatracing@wmconnect.com

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hotel Reservations:

Well once again folks we have a group of rooms setup at the Comfort Inn Martinsburg. We've stayed at this hotel the prior 3 years so I believe most are familiar with the surroundings.

Room rate again this year is $75 per night - In order to receive this discounted rate you must mention you're a part of the Thunderbird Club. Also the same as last year, there's no set block - any room selection with a King or Two Double Beds (smoking/non) will receive this discounted rate. This has worked out the best for us so we're sticking with the same format. For those that may be coming alone and want to share a room get hold of me by email and I'll see if Tim can come up with a list so rooms can be shared to help save some expenses.

Saturday Picnic/Car Show/Awards Ceremony Registration

I will need to have a total count of all cars (Type), drivers and picnic attendees by NLT August 13th. We will take reservations after that point on a case by case basis. Please register and make payment early. That helps us all out to insure we can get this set up appropriately for car count/classes and trophies.

Right now we are planning on the following cost set up. $20.00 per car and driver for the picnic/car show, $13.00 for spouse, and $7.00 for Children 7-12, under 7 are free.

For Reservations send Information and payment to: Karen

I went and looked at the trailer I told you about and it looked pretty decent. Tires were about half worn, checked out the winch and it worked. Overall I liked it so he was at $1500 and I offered $1300 so we met in the middle, $1400. I gave him a $100 to hold it until Monday but if I end up having a change of heart I'll get my $100 back. I checked out his Mustang, '93 notchback/5-speed. He said his quickest run with a 50 shot was 10.99 at Dinwiddie. He priced it high because he really doesn't want to sell it but the wife says........

If I go to the meet I'll still need to borrow Todd's friends trailer as I won't have this trailer ready.

Todd,

Get hold of Karen. The information has been posted and make payment arrangements for the picnic for you and the ladies.

If you Can't bring the Tbird bring the stang! It can join us on the strip Saturday & Sunday if you pay the fee. Again, a 4 hour block of all you can run Saturday. It can be put on exhibition at the car show since you have a SC engine in it but it cannot be a PART of the MN12/FN10 Show itself. As a matter of fact, it may have a twin there! Kinda ;)

Send EECDOC an email and see if he may be able to tweak the TBird for you there on saturday. Dont know if he can but you may want to check.

Well it's not my place to say anything, but be afraid. Be very afraid. :D

Me? Mostly I was testing tires and burnouts and launches and such so I concentrated on the first 330' and then lifted. No great 60' times I'm afraid but I got plenty of seat time, learned a lot and raised a few new questions that I need to get answered now. It was a full four hour T&T and we did exactly that.

At the end of a very hot and muggy day we ran the full 1330' a couple of times and it hot lapped in the mid 12's at about 112mph. We finally stopped when the temps reached 220. Not a great day for the car, but an outstanding day for the driver.

As did you. The two of you were running lights out especially in that weather even if I can't remember any specific numbers.

And I just heard that the weather was bad enough that it was costing us all about 3-4 tenths. I don't know how accurate that statement is but it sure makes me feel better.

IRA, yours is just a matter of getting the car to hook. The car ran great through the gears and out the top. There is no concern there.

Chris and Keith. Great Job! You boys did an excellent job of driving the cars Saturday. Those boys will all have their hands full in the PRO Street Class in Ohio REGARDLESS of what THEY think. Good luck out there.

Yes Ira, with the temps and traction concerns, there were two nasty cars there that have run recently at that track that were off their pace by 3-4 tenths this time around. You know who they are. I drove one of them for the days best top ET. ;) Along with me taking best Reaction time of the day, what else is there to say other than mustangs taste good and their money is green? LOL

The DA was roughly between 2400-3200. It is what it is. I'll say no more.

Steve, it seemed like you and Chris both had problems shifting Ira's car. Standing at the starting line there was a good delay between gears going down the track. Take away those delays and you gain a half second at least IMO.

I'm learning more about my car the more I drive it, like you said, seat time is a good thing. Chris's car was just plain nasty, there's no way I can even come close to him unless he has a problem or red lights. I believe we'll hold our own at the Shootout, Chris will no doubt. I'm the one with the little ol' M90 that'll be struggling to keep up with "in" crowd.........;)

The throws on his car are different than what I've been accustomed to. I did miss 3rd gear on the first pass. I agree the shifts were slower than normal with me and I know there is more ET there with someone that normally runs the car and is much more familiar with the shift patterns than Chris or I. I was running it hard but shifting it tenatively cause I didn't want to force the issue and break it.

Mainly what WE were trying to do was get grip on how to get the car to hook more so than anything. I only wish we had started sooner than the last 30 minutes to try and do something with it. WE were also trying to determine if there was an issue with the line lock holding and if it wasn't could we sidestep it enough to get the tires heated. Couple experimental passes basically. As far as ET's I'm not sure exactly what Chris or I ran with it in comparison to what IRA ran. I wasn't looking at the slips much other than 60 fts. He'll have to chime in on that. In the burnout box, tire speed is your friend. We've got to find a way to get the tires heated more so it hooks better. The passes he got it close, it certainly ran better and he knows that.

There is no doubt it can run significantly quicker with more seat time and practice. It was good experience for Ira Saturday. He needs more of them.

Still a good day!!! :)

My car has had a intermitent miss for a few months now. I think it finally showed itself. Went to change my plugs and one of the wire ends stayed on the plug.:( So I was lookin for a new wire at the track and couldn't find one so I just crammed it on there and it ran like a mofo! The 2 previous passes it wanted to run at 9.5:1 AFR, the wide band is on the same side as the faulty wire.

I can't complain too much as the stock motorcraft wires were about 10 years old. I haven't put the new (black) autolite wires on yet to see if it takes care of the problem yet.

Chris,

Are you using nitrous, or just the twin screw ?

That makes sense Chris!!! Thats why the problem with the plugs and the wideband going beserk from time to time I'd bet. I thought something might have been wrong from what I saw on the first couple passes but later I knew whatever it was you must have found.

I was too busy running mine and a couple others to see if I could get theirs sorted out. Rick's got issues with Joel's car too that need corrected but it did pick up some later in the day. I'm hoping he can get some of that stuff corrected before next year too.

Was that the plug that looked like it was running rich on the front passenger side?

Speaking of issues..........
On my wife's Tbird, the command for the 1-2 shift was coming a bit late and it was hitting the rev limiter just before the 1-2 shift.
I just got the tune tweaked today. Probably another tenth or two to be had.

Very Likely Todd.

Linda's 95 had the same problem last year. EECDOC tweaked the shift points and added a bit of timing and walah!! 4/10th's quicker this year and on street tires at that.

Keith, no, but i wouldn't rule out some other bad wires.
