Ignition switch?

The switch, right? Not the key cylinder...

1.) Slide the driver's seat rearwards to make room to work. Auto trans in park...key out.

2.) Remove three phillips-head screws from bezel around steering wheel from below..they are long, so be patient - tilt wheel up and remove lower 1/2 then tilt wheel down and remove top 1/2.

Option: pull the dash bezel to have more room - two screws under top edge and then friction tabs...be gently - disconnect and captured switches.

3.) Look down on the right side of the column for the switch (source it online @ Autozone, RockAuto etc. so you know what it looks like) there are two T-27 Torx security fasteners (they have a pin in the center so check that you have the right tool...they are tight coming out in most cases) that hold it onto the column...pull these, disconnect the harness and the switch should come away. In some cases you'll see a switch that has separated and/or falls apart in your hands.

Install is reverse...note that some switches are pre-indexed to the rod/mechanism that works to couple shifting, starting, etc. Take care to position the new switch the same as the old one if needed. Replace any bail that may be present to help retain the harness, etc. A bit of dielectric grease on the pins for the connector wouldn't hurt. Test operation before closing up the dash pieces.

If you pulled the main bezel, take this opportunity to dust off/clean the cluster clear cover...carefully, before replacing the bezel/any switches, after replacing the two plastic pieces behind the steering wheel.

Good luck.

One other way to do this:

Leave the dash bezel on....

Use the T-27 torx bit and a ¼" wrench to get the switch off....

Shouldn't take more than ½ hour to do.....
