So I got it all bought and picked up by the most bestest SC wrench, Dave Dalke... only 20 miles away from his shop!!!

a few dollars later and a few hours fixing, checking, filling, and more fixing and it all ready for its trip home to Chicago... Thanks David:)

Once I get it home I'll cut off any rust and spray it down with preventer, then proceed to drive it like I stole it till I take it apart and laod all it's 5-speed goodness into a rust free roller with a new Dalke remanufactured engine, new suspension, new this, new that.

I'll be around for a while!

Pics after cleaning up over the weekend, and R&Ring the interior...

And from my driveway 400 problem free miles later.

I guess it would be a little redundant to gush about how fun this 5-speed car was to drive accross the midwest. a decent clutch and previous owners who didn' flog it every opportunity they had. Shifts a little sloppy but I got an idea for that, spend $ on a B&M ripper shifter. Tomorrow I plan on tearing off the ground effects b/4 they fall off, fix the hang strip with aluminum or galvanized as illustrated elsewhere on this fine forum! Then polish it up and turn it from a 10 footer to a close up car. Can't believe I've waited this long to take one of these up. Really happy to truly be on board in a driving 5-speed SC. Next will be a slightly built, relatively new 5-speed 91 Black rust free SC.

If there is anybody with 5-speed swap stuff I'd like to talk...

PS: Thanks to the entire Dalke family for getting me home with my new ride.

Nice Car

Great find and a nice looking bird! It looks like the front seats are fabric while the rear appear to be leather, which seats are original?

Good to see you made it home. I'm still on the road. :(

Thanks for squeezing me in b/4 your trip Dave, car drove home flawlessly. Safe travels...

Great find and a nice looking bird! It looks like the front seats are fabric while the rear appear to be leather, which seats are original?

Neither, the OE interior was blue leather, drivers seat was bad, passenger seat was intact but very dry, rear fold down seat was all popped along the top seams. Cloth front seats came out of a 90 I bought many years ago and stripped, leather rear seat I bought a couple of years ago at the shootout.

I really don't care about the consistancy as much as the functionality and comfort. I'm putting new speakers in it and that ought to wrap it up for the time being. down the raod I'll retire this car, strip it and load at the good stuff into a rust free Florida 91 black with tweed/black leather interior, like new.

Loaded the B&M Shifter in last night, big difference, no surprise.

No grinding between gears but it is a little sticky...?

Like right b/4 it allows it into third...

I assume this can be contributed to 21 years and 112,000 miles of shifting?

And I suppose if I rebuilt this transmission in a couple of years with new blocking rings it'd be more butter like?

Any advice of sources for hard to find parts much appreciated.

Chris
