i got a set of new double platinum spark plugs from ford and want to know if they need to be re-gapped. if so to what?

ANY new spark plugs should have the gap verified before installation. Did you get the original number AWSF 34 PP plugs ? If so, the gap is probably close to the .052 to .054 range, as the SC motor is the only application for that plug number. In the case of some of the other numbers, like the AWSF 32 PP that some people are trying with modified engines, the plug # fits a variety of applications, but sometimes with different gap settings, so who knows what they will be set at out of the box.

If your motor is pretty much stock, try setting them to the low end of the range, around .052".

i thought you shouldnt gap platinum plug or any other plug that had been coated with something cuz it would take the coating off
