Im stumped guys. Saturday my car died on my while driving and wouldnt stay running. I got it towed back and pulled the codes and 217 came up which is no big deal since I juts delt with this a month ago and pulled a dis from my parts car and it ran perfect. Now it did it again. The car starts up perfectly but stumbles and dies after a couple seconds. I replaced the DIS and coil both brand new today and it still dies! And it still give me code 217! Please help.

After replacing the coil, how many times did you clear the codes...?

Can you test resistance across the coils and post those values here?

Have you checked grounds and harness health?

Any specific grounds I should be checking?

All of them.

Like from the engine to the body, for starters..

..then the ganged ground points behind the headlights, then the negative cable and post on the battery.

Then the ground wires in the harness at the DIS, [ http://www.sccoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115123&highlight=ground ]cam sensor and crank sensor....then the grounds back to the EEC if things are really tough.

Replace any that you don't know the age of - clean all you can touch...corrosion hides underneath sheathing and age takes a toll, and with these cars, healthy electrics are a must.
