You scooped me.

I also have been watching and waiting for the Sunday Report.

Warm track and cool air I'm hoping to see conditions that prodiuce some personnel bests.

Never lined up before, but the Cat is purring (at this moment)

Barring a totally lame driver i'm hoping for a 14.25.

Anybody else got an old timeslip they can beat. (and go on record)

Lots of them  but that's not my problem. I have to worry about the whether more than most. That's right, I said whether. Not weather. My problem is not how cool it is or isn't out but WHETHER or not the driver shows up!! ;) :D

I did pull a couple of 1.5x 60's at the Shootout last year and the temp was in the 50's with a 4000 lb car. You might be onto something there.

I just found the official rules for the local track.

E2a. Gateway International Raceway’s weather-mandated gate policy will cancel any daylight event in GIR’s regular weekly series programs if the forecasted temperature for the day of the event, (as issued by the National Weather Service twenty-four hours in advance of gates opening for the event), is less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit or more than 99 degrees Fahrenheit. For evening events, the minimum forecasted temperature for safe competition will be a forecasted high temperature on the day of competition of 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Gateway International Raceway reserves the right to cancel or postpone any event for any reason including, but not limited to, high winds, fog, tornado warnings, severe weather warnings, poor air quality warnings, ground water seepage, power failure or timing equipment failure. Updates on the day of each event will be available at GatewayRaceway.com.

Cooler temps/more power will help those that can hook them. Track prep will be the most vital part of it. Seems like 2 years ago they did a reasonable job of track prep. Hope they do this year. Sure better than the track prep we see at MD most of the year!

That along with the temps and the right set up should see some nasty 60 fts!

That is the weather for Ohio, late September and on...and one of the main reasons why I am not attending. The first weekend of October is just a little too late in my opinion.

We've had decent weather every year so far. This year looks to be colder than average though. Weather indicates possibility of light rain Saturday night and moving into Sunday. Sunday is supposed to be clearing as the day goes on. The biggest question will be if there is going to be any water on the track in the morning. It will be very cool to be evaporating anything. Hopefully the track will be dry.

Agreed...I'm in Indy and we have pretty much the same weather. Needs to be about mid sept. and that way it's still more summer like than fall with wind and gloom.

XR7 Dave

If the SC Shootout were a car show, I would agree. But it's not a car show. We have a car show, but the SC Shootout is not a car show. The SC Shootout is a drag race. Cool weather is a huge plus. Then, there is the whole "race track availability" thing where tracks normally end their regular season the end of September, making October about the earliest time to actually rent a racetrack.....and we haven't been rained out yet in 8 years.

Of course if people would rather just sit around and gossip/bench race, then maybe we should look into a July date when kids aren't in school? That would make this SOOOoooooo much easier for me.

:D Don't know about that Dave but 1 thing I do know, I run MY bottle spring, summer and fall so I don't let little crap like temps, baro or humidity bother me. I do the same on the motor alone. A supercharged car should be no different. You get seat time, you drive the car, learn the car and run at various tracks and conditions. Then you KNOW what you've got and when you've got it.

Also, I believe that there was only one nitrous car at SB this year since mine is still not up and running. So that eliminates that. :p

Pulllleeeaassseee. Don't give me that old story. Nitrous guys love the summer weather, supercharged guys love the cold. I can't count the number of nitrous guys I've heard cussing cold weather and using that excuse for "low bottle pressure" as to why their junk ran rich and fell on it's face.

But whatever, trash is as trash talks! My junk is slow and broken so I'm nothing other than leaves rattling in the wind.

Not true. Nitrous guys have hell trying to maintain bottle pressure when it's cold. If it's cold enough they can have problems with icing in the intake manifold too.

Well, thats one problem I've yet to run up against. I've had occasional other issues but never bottle pressure since I've installed a full case bottle heater so maybe thats the difference. Since its wired direct to the 12 V battery with an on/off switch it gets to pressure quick.

And in 55/60+ degree weather which I have had it in many times there have been no issues. :)

Dave, ask anyone that has run with me over the years when they saw my car fall on it face on the nitrous LOL?????
