I had a best of 1.99 at the Shootout and thought that was pretty good and I know it was great for me.
So I was just curious how low some of you guys have been on street tires.

I have just regular street tires so that's what I was looking for, but I can compare it to those also.

On a stock motor 95lx 4.6 I have pulled 1.82's consistantly.

On regular street tires I've pulled 1.84's. BFG's Radial TA's.

5-speed, 255/45ZR17 Goodyear F1GSD3: 2.02

But they handle pretty well.

I guess I did pretty decent then but can still get better. I do know the freshly installed auburn made a huge difference so I guess my 231,000 mile traction loc was pretty worn out. I thought there was something wrong with my motor the first couple of times I tried launching at 2,000rpm like I usually did because it felt like it was bogging instead of being on the edge of spinning the tires. I had worked my way up to 3,000rpm starts by the time I got the 1.99. I didn't get a chance to try any higher.

Best I've done is around 1.85 with 255 wide Nitto street tires when the car was running 13.8 ETs. I tried racing my 91 on street tires a couple years ago and couldn't get enough traction to do better than about 2.40 60fts.

I'll see if I can find the slip when I ran the car on 275 40 17's BFG KD's on a 12.50 pass. I think I logged it in my log book when I was still doing that, need to get back into that habit.

Yeah I could tell by your shootout performance your drag racing program is getting a little shoddy.:p

David you'd probably have trouble coming out of the hole in overdrive with your cars.

I just have the stock size tires on my car.

Not quite that bad, but I couldn't go full throttle in 1st or 2nd gear without spinning the tires. On two attempts I ended up with nearly identical 13.20s @ 113 :o

with 235/55/17 toyo proxes(these are what I would consider regular 30-40k tread life street tires) I pulled a 2.00 60ft at the shootout. I was between 2.1-2.3 all day but that was my best. It's just too bad That I was spinng way past the 60ft mark on command, otherwise I might have been able to collect a good number!!

My best 60ft time was a 1.97 on 225/60/r16 Bridgestone Potenza street tires. I ran a 14.2 @ 94mph on that pass.

That's the same tire I have on mine. That's a good et for that mph.

Last year on some stock size(225 60 r16) Pep Boys el cheapo's I got a 1.98 60ft. Kilkare seems to do some decent track prep so I'm sure thats a big help even for street tires.............Dan
