$125 is too steep for a test n tune. I'll stick with $30 on the 5th plus I'd rather have cool night air.

I'm going to be loaded up and leave straight from work on Friday. I bought some new front tires for a few of reasons, 1 is because they're bias ply like the rear M&H dot slicks and M/T slicks I have. I've always read that you shouldn't mix radials with bias plys on a drag car, forget the reason but I think it causes "lane walk" which I have. 2 is because they're 27" tall and I can have them on the car and get it loaded without worrying if my front air dam is going to hit like it would with the old 165/80/15's that were 25.5" tall, I always had to have my street tires on it to load and unload it because of the clearance problem. 3 is that they're lighter than the radials, tire/rim combo weigh 22 lbs. 4 is because Chris has them so I know they're good for a 10 sec. run......:D I will be removing the passenger seat to lighten the load as much as possible, hopefully I can crack my best time of 11.336.............

Called this afternoon and they were running. Drive up there, arrive a little after 5pm and they say they're closed because the track has moisture. I get out, check the straps on the car and ride back. They have another test n tune tomorrow so I'll be heading back up.

Gates Open at 11 AM

What kind of 60' on that one? Looks like a great pass for a spinning start. :D

Problems with the Juice or the car?

He needed you there for burnout motivation. I' not sure the tires he currently has on the back are doing him justice.
As for the some problems story, that is for Keith to tell.

Todd, I'll use these the rest of this year but the 1st trip to the track in 2011 I'll have some brand new full slicks with tubes and rim screws.

I had a problem with the nitrous solenoid (1st time since I had the Zex system) after getting it to work in the pits I started up the motor and had a nitrous backfire. It shredded 3 of my i/c couplers, blew the return plenum into a few pieces, broke the plastic vacuum tree behind the motor by the plenum, broke my hood pins, hood was latched and cracked the underneath of the rear of hood. After assessing what happened I put the cause on mechanic stupidity.........me. I didn't follow my normal procedure when recalibrating the Zex nitrous management unit and testing the nitrous solenoid to make sure it was working, ended up having some nitrous sprayed into the plenum before starting.........well you know what happen next.............

I remove everything on top including the lower intake manifold to check for damage and everything looks fine. There were a few small pieces of the return plenum in the lower manifold so I blew the lower out with my air hose. I checked down the runners in the heads and found nothing but blew them them out also. I have all of the parts ordered that I need to fixed it, I also fabbed up another return plenum that I modified to work with my i/c setup, I just have to get it welded at work this week. I'm stealing Todd's idea and this time I'm going to mount the nitrous nozzle where the crossover vacuum tube normally goes and eliminate the crossover tube.

Is the hood fixable? Im sorry to hear that....could have been worse though! Alot of the time they burn to the ground with those backfires....Just ask the LS1/2 guys! Plastic intake manifolds and N20 backfires make a mess!

Sorry for your luck.

Although significant, looks like superficial damage compared to a worst case.

Nice straight up run considering spin.

The hood damage is minor and you can only see it on the underneath by the drivers side wiper, it seperated a little. On the cowl vents where it had that mesh wire that were just glue on, it blew 3 of them loose. No damage to them other than coming unglued, easy fix. I can probably fix the area by the wiper blade with some epoxy to mate the 2 surfaces back together. Todd and me were both in the car when it blew, I think both of our azzes tighten up a bit.................

It sounded like a grenade going off under the hood. It was loud inside the car, I can only imagine what it sound like outside of the car.
It did cause a few of the racers next to us, to stop by and ensure everything was alright.

Ya, Oh, and Keith, try heating the tires before making a pass, it will hook better.

It started to go sideways when the tires were just starting to smoke so I had to let out of it. I had aired them down to 13 lbs. but after the run I checked them and they were up to 16.5 lbs. Aired them back down to 13 lbs. and had a good burnout on the 2nd run when the nitrous malfunctioned.

I'm riding up to Chris's place tonight. We're going to ride over to Cecil tomorrow and watch the MAMN12 cars run and then over to MIR on Sunday to run in a test n tune session. I know Chris wants to see if his new TQ and 2-step will lower his best e/t and I'm shooting for a new best also........if everything works and I don't have any brainfarts like last weekend..........

I bought the jets to up the shot to 125 but I'll see how it does with the 100 shot first..................:D
