I had a strange thing happen on my last run...............
I pre-staged like normal, then when I staged, I pushed through the lights turning off the pre-stage and stage lights, but I did not light the red. I was basicly in no mans land and had the tree in limbo. I ended up backing through the lights which started the tree and that was the begining of the end of the race.

I don't even understand how that is even possible, unless they have a separate laser for the red-light and the stage light. Still sucks though.

I keep trying to figure out myself.
I think what may of happened is I pushed through a fraction of a second before he lit the stage light, as I staged first.

The starter prolly didn't hit the button before you unstaged. Basically you prolly had 7 seconds to get back in before the tree would have fouled you out. Or you unstaged before the other guy staged.

Usually if you want to deep stage they want you to write it on your window so the starter knows not to activate the tree till the prestage light goes out.

Can't tell from the video, but the tree just wasn't activated. Kinda like a knuckle head trying to stage with the back tires or something. Its activated once both cars have the lower bulbs on. Wether it be deep or not. Really doesn't matter if you back into stage or go forward into stage as long as the tree isn't activated you can stage however you like.

In other words you were ready and the other guy wasn't till you rolled the beam then you weren't ready either.

The starter tells the tree both cars are ready then the tree decides when the lights start coming down.

General etiquette is that you don't light the second bulb until after your opponent lights one bulb. Depending on how the tree is set up (in competition), once you full stage the tree gives your opponent x amount of time to also stage or they get an automatic foul. Again, it depends on how the tree is set up but since you don't generally know how it is set up, the general rule is don't stage until the other guy has at least pre staged.
