i hear all the time about ecc what is it and where is it on my car i have a 91 sc 5 speed if anyone has a pic that would help also

Probably the EEC (Electronic Engine Control) or PCM (Powertrain Control Module. Ours is actually an EEC IV, newer Fords have the EEC V. It is the computer that controls the engine and other functions. It it located behind the passenger side kick panel up near the glovebox. It is in the same place on all 'Birds.

You probably also hear OBDI or OBDII in conjuntion with the EEC. That is the On-board Diagnostics version 1 or 2. All SCs have OBDI.

Actually, OBDI is only on....

:D

Actually, the early SC's have regular EEC-IV system. In the 1991 model year, the Ford engineers decided to try the EEC-IV system intergrated with the OBDI or (ON-BOARD-DIAGNOSTICS) system. This switched the two digit codes to three digit codes and also allowed us to actually read the voltages at the sensors.

This info is STRAIGHT from a Ford engineer that helped BUILD this car!!!!

Not a bad resource to have.
