main and rod tq specs

also while thinking about it i have the rod caps off already and need to know what way the tangs go??? same side or opposite side.:rolleyes:

i know what rod each cap goes to but i didn't pay attention to what way the caps went on there:eek:
 
From the Mitchell Manual

Connecting rods: 31-36 foot lbs. They want you to torque, back off and retorque.

Main Bearing caps 81-89 ft lbs.:)

so your saying torque the rods to 31-36 then loosen them up and re torque them to 31-36? im not using new bolts if that matters?

do you know which way the rod caps go?
 
That's what it said. Perhaps to seat new bolts. It does not say. I have a motor apart with the rod and main journals exposed. I'll look to see if I can get a picture for you For the other question you have.
 
No pic, but the notches go on the same side. All of my motors have the cyl # stamped on the rod and cap. Those go on the same side too.
