View Full Version : Letting the 89 SC Rest a bit... helpful hints welcomed

I have my 89 SC in the garage now, since 1996. I take here out on the road, weather permiting, once a month or so.

More often in the warmer months. Anybody have some gold nuggets to keep the SC rolling smooth, when I dont run her more that like 100 miles a year.

I am totally glad this room is here, but we must be fading guys. Who has seen a Tbird of any kind on the road in the last few years?

If it sets for a while put STA-BIL in the tank, and steel-wool in the tailpipes to keep critters out. :D

Mine sees <100 miles/year, and gets driven every 2-3 months. I keep the tank full, trickle charge the battery once in awhile, keep an eye on the fluids, and keep it covered and dry. That's about it.

When I DO start it up, I make sure it's thoroughly warmed up, and then driven until the driveline is up to temperature. No problems so far; I've been doing this for about 5 years now. No mechanical or electrical problems, leaks, funny noises, etc.

Good Luck,
