A buddy of mine talked me into going grudge night racing this pass Friday 03/04. I tech in and get in line ready to go. ET streets were at 17 lbs....heated the tires (at least thought I did). Get set at the line and bring the rpms up and launch (spin) got off the gas and then take off.
First time slip
R/T .383
60' 2.755
330 7.577
1/8 10.767
MPH 77.62
1000 13.487
1/4 15.772
MPH 99.12
Now with the bad run out of the way....I line back up heat the tires again.
Second run:
R/T -.003
60' 1.860
330 5.454
1/8 8.507
MPH 80.03
1000 11.159
1/4 13.395
MPH 100.94 (new best time...for now)
With the second run looking good...head back to the line.
Third run:
R/T -.052
60' 1.875
330 5.428
1/8 8.469
MPH 80.08
1000 11.122
1/4 13.359
MPH 101.01 (sets another new best)
I decide to rest for a bit and watch a couple of cars run. An hour later, I go for another run
Fourth run:
R/T .477
60' 1.997
330 5.536
1/8 8.535
MPH 81.65
1000 11.129
1/4 13.322
MPH 102.81 (NEW BEST)
I was going to call it a night after that run, but with the new best and tire spin I thought if I heat the tires up better I can improve. So I go back for run five.
Fifth and Final run
R/T .242
60' 1.964
330 5.539
1/8 8.566
MPH 80.84
1000 11.187
1/4 13.398
MPH 102.26
After that run called it a night.....it was getting cold plus late and I had an hour ride home. I was happy and sad at the same time. Happy I made a new best and the car stayed together.....sad I didn't get the 12 sec slip I wanted. I need a higher stall converter. A couple of the passes where I red lighted was due to the car over powering the brakes and the stall only going to 2200-2400. I also watch the wide o2 band.....I was running 11.4-11.3 during the run. I will try and scan the slips later today. I tried to have my son video the runs, but with it being at night they did not turn out.

Talk to Alan (DirtydOg) about a converter. Or if Neibert still has one for sale, that might be an option....and you can talk to Alan about that too.

Congrats on the new best, now update your signature.

btw, I don't think you are going to scare any Teal cars with numbers like that :p

Kurt,
Thanks.........I think Alan has (or had) a converter for me.

I don't have to worry about any teal sc's........they are not running right now. :p

David,
Do you know if that stall speed will be the same in a SC? I know the stall varies by motor and how much torque they produce.

Thanks

When my car was an AOD, and 13.5 power. I went to a non locker, same stall as davids. I never had a chance to get to the track, but that thing was awesome, perfect stall for your car. Could roll around town and never have it down shift, or lug. And when it came time to leave a red light, it did it with much more authority. Go for it!

Good numbers Ken. Especially this early in the season when you're still working out the bugs. Sounds like a fun night. Was this at Cecil County?

Ken,

It's pretty much the same if not identical to what I've got in my 91 SC right now. Since the turbo v8 in my 93 is rather weak when not in the boost, and it doesn't get into the boost until around 3500 rpms, it felt a little tighter in my 93, than it would in your car.

In your car I would expect it to stall about 2800 rpms, and flash a few hundered rpms higher, which is about what my 91 does.

Ken,
We'll have to meet up for a T&T at Cecil later this year. We can put a couple 12 second SC's door to door and really turn some heads there. :D

If I can get Karen to bring her car too we'll have a 3 way run at it. Gotta love 3 SC's at a T&T running 100+mph.
