Well sold my cobra calipers a year ago to be able to fit a 15" rim on the front again for light drag tires. Went to the shootout and had fun trying to stop at kilkare from 124mph with 2 piston PBR's.

So I went out and got another set of cobra calipers and some spiffy rotors too. Got the calipers all cleaned up and painted today.

What do ya think? 1st pic stock, 2nd cobra was painted black then taped off, kinda looks good with the blue on black, 3rd is all done. Zinc plated rotors, look alot better than rusty stockers.

Few more pics.

Got the calipers off the mustang boards.

Same o'l wheels for now. But I picked up some CCW drag pack wheels in 17 front and 16 rear. There's a thread somewhere.

Pic 5 overheated ouch!

Forgot the banjo bolts are different gotta pic up some of those tomorrow.

I was gonna powder coat them but said f it... that'll take too long. Almost broke my finger using compressed air to get the pistons out. Guess I flinched and pushed the button too hard... and POW the piston come flyin out and mooshed my finger.:) But I drink alot of milk and all is well.:p

I used the VHT caliper paint, guess we'll see if it holds up.

Looks good, what brake pads did you go with? What banjo bolts do you have to get?

Chris,

Why do the pistons have to be removed ?

David

PS: Finished product looks great.

I opted for the ceramic pads from the ebay store think it's "brake stop". Banjo bolt thread is m10x1.50 just picked em up in the help section at auto zone. They have GM on the box for the application.

David, I was gonna take them all apart and powder them. I guess the rubber could take the heat but wasn't gonna chance it.

Does the VHT hold up to brake fluid? I got some on the caliper and it was starting to melt it, but the paint had only cured for a few hours.

Thanks for the compliments.:)

Let us know how the pad and rotor combination feels. I'm trying to decide now what rotors and pads to get for my upgrade. I had Hawk HPS pads with plain rotors in mind, but the brakemotive rotors look sharp just saw a set on an F150 yesterday.
