The 94 SC 4R70W has more clutches then the 96 NA V6 4R70W. Also Ford changed the impedance of the shift solenoids in 96 and used a printed wiring assemble. If you use the 96 4R70W you need to upgrade the clutches, install a mechanical diode assemble and use the 94 solenoids and 94 internal transmission wiring.

Believe me, the NA V6 transmission will not live long behind a SC engine.

Are you planning on putting a 94 SC trans in a 96 Mustang or a 96 Mustang trans in a SC?

Well you could always freshen up the 96 4R70W by upgrading it to 4 intermediate clutches, 7 direct clutches, 6 forward clutches and a mechanical diode. You would need a couple hard parts including a mechanical diode and a rebuild kit like this one.

Best thing would be to get a 98+ mustang tranny. Just repin the harness.

The 98 NA V6 4R70W still does not have as many clutches and the 99+ 4R70W does not have teeth on the output shaft for a speedometer gear.

If you drive conservatively it will last awhile. If you love boost, it will not last long.
