I have had my share of rebuilding engines in the past but, we are talking about 289 and Boss 302 engines and that was in the late 80's and early 90's. Please anyone tell me this. I had someone email about suggestions about what to do with SC heads he milled .22 to get them flat. The shop manual recommends no more than .010 max milled to service the heads. Are these heads that different that you can mill them that much?? That seems like an awful lot to me. But hey I'll ask anyway. Thanks, guys.

Have a great weekend.

the more you mill the greater chance overheating will warp them, the lifters can take care of .020 usually, same with the head bolts and intake

Your friend will have to check the preload on his lifters. I would try for no less than .040 and no more than .045, other than that there should be no problems.
