Oil Pan difference?

I pulled the parts over the weekend to clean and get ready to put the new motor together.

The 95 oil pan does not have the sensor in the side of it.

What is that sensor?
Do I need to use a 94/95 pan on a 94/95 block with a windage tray or can I put an 89-93 pan on it? IF I put the 95 pan on without the sensor what will it do or not do (affect)?

The pans are all the same between the years, the difference is the low oil level sensor which i think you are referring too.

89-93's had VMM with the low oil sensor in them (as mentioned) and 94/95 VMM's didn't have oil - just washer, coolant, and fuel.

My guess is the VMM will either read low oil all time, or won't ever come on. Perhaps if you ground the wire, it won't come on?

Thanks!

Not worried about oil level so that is one more excess thing I can cut out of the system.

Will trace the wire back while the motor is out and clip it at a connection somewhere!

Going to leave the VMM for now, fuel, coolant and wiper fluid is nice to see the dummy lights.
If oil ever got that low I should be SHOT!
