1990 Supercoupe, rod knock

I have a 1990 SC that has a rod knock. Shop told me 3300 to replace engine so my questions are is that a fair price and if not what would be my other avenues to take? I am trying to locate a doner for around 1000. Mine needs an engine, drivers door and rear bumper. Does anyone know of any sc's near michigan? Are there any members who have done a rebuiild that live in Michigan who may want to make some money with this undertaking? Thanks

I did some research and found that Autozone sells complete rebuilt long blocks for the S/C for 1800.00. Comes with a 3 year unlimitied miles warranty.

While I haven't got the final bill yet from my machine shop I'm expecting somewhere in the $1000.00 and that includes $350 I already spent for balancing.

(took 11 hours to balance. )

So depending on what parts you want to buy your $3,300.00 is a tad excessive.

Mind you that is with me doing the re and re on the engine myself as well as picking it up and delivering it.

Yeah labor rates at auto shops range from $75 up to $150 an hour, so if you can remove and replace the engine yourself you'll save a lot of money.
