Will car idle if???

I disconnected the IAC wire and turned the air screw completely closed and the car still idles. It does slow down some when I pull the IAC connector off but not a lot. Should the car continue to run with the IAC disconnected and air screw closed tight?

The problem I'm having is, when car is warm and I come up to stop light, the idle slowly drops to about 750 rpm and then instantly drops to 550 like someone threw a switch.
It's an auto 95.
Any one else experienced any thing similar?

The car should not idle if the IAC has been disconnected. It might idle for a couple of seconds when you first start the engine, but after that, it should die. If it is idling that way, it means you probably have an air leak somewhere after the TB. That would be a vaccuum leak. You can test for that with propane.
It is also conceivable, but rare, that the IAC itself has a pin-hole leak and is allowing just enough air past to keep the idle from surging. Most of he time though, when the IAC breaks, the idle goes very high.

Hope this helps.
