Is anyone entering into the TPS Motor Sportís car show and cruise on 7-30-11? We will have the Mark VII, Crown Vic and the Marauder all in the same class, which is a little unfair for judging but then if you are going just to be there and see the other cars and hang out.

We would love to have the T-Birds or Mark out again....

As far as having their own class the problem is space... we just don't have enough space to add more classes... we could easily have more classes but we just don't have the parking space at our shop to have more classes.

The parking would be the same no matter if you had more classes or not. By more classes it is just a different grouping for the judging to be fairer with cars that are like your instead of other cars that are different and total unlike your type of car.

Either way ... It does not make a difference what we believe or tried to establish.

I have a 51% chance on attending - and if I go, Jose will probably come also. I already put a "new" paint job on his multi-colored 5.0 Tbird. How in the world he took home 3rd place last year, I have no idea .. I mean, there was a wooden walking stick hood prop and fishing gear in the back seat !!! I wont even mention the headliner.

and to Ramon ..... I was hoping you would have been home from that worthless country Iraq to attend events like these, but not if youre going to be arrogant about it. ;)

Dan,

I honestly don't see why your making such a big deal about it... it's a space issue plain and simple... If I made a class for every car that wanted one we would have 30 classes and 4 cars per class....

The parking would not be the same because certain classes are larger than others and the more classes we have the fewer cars will be allowed in... if we ever move the show to a larger facility we would gladly add a T-Bird Class... honestly you guys are the ONLY ones making a bid deal about not getting your own class... the Maurader guys don't care. Raptor guys don't care, Shelby GT guys don't care, Focus guys don't care, Lightning guys don't care, etc... if you guys want to boycott the show over not getting your own class it's pretty silly IMO.

If you guys chose to be absent this year then it'll be a shame because that class turn into the Maurader class then

Who ever said anything about boycotting the show ?? And is that what you would prefer ? Sounds like an ultimatum to me.

I just remember what you told me. Not making a big deal, but a man only has two things in this world, my word and my balls and if you dont stay honest to what you say ..

As for the categories .. do what you want, its your show afterall. The way I see the categories divided, its 70% Mustangs .. thats all.

Dan,

I don't want you guys to boycott the show but I've seen posts saying people may not show up, received PMs and emails harassing me about giving the T-Birds a class or they won't show... There are ALOT more Mustangs around that T-Birds and the majority of our customers are Mustangs or Corvettes. It's not an ultimatum but I'm tired of being harassed over it.

I'll be out of town for this one...but I do have to dyno soon. maybe after I get underdrives

I called custom alignment in mountain view because they specialize in vibration...guy basically told me its too expensive and they might not be able to figure it out. Gonna replace those inner LCA bushings soon.

we should get a little mn12 show together

Maybe you need an adjustable tuning fork .. If you can tune it to the frequency that makes your vibration "sing" it could show itself ... ;)

We had Jose and Rapto22 (Conner) show up with their T-Bird LXs, Ddubb (Dan) and I show up with Our SC and Merlon was there with his 95 Mark. The Marauder had 3 show up this year. Guess who was going to win?

At the end of the day an Marauder took 1st, I Jmat 95 took 2nd with the SC and Merlon got 3rd with the Mark VIII. So, a prize to each type of car listed that showed up. Raptor had his car shining and the new wheels were nice. Maybe if we can get more of the SCCOA and TCCOA to show up, we could get our class, but then Mike still might not give us a class without Marauder. We will just have to look at these other shows.

I still dont understand Mikes viewpoint on the subject of creating a Tbird class.

Mike,

Can't you see the points we're making, that we dont want to be competing for 2nd or 3rd in our own class, as first will always be reserved for the newer shinier marauder? This is your opportunity to make IMPROVEMENTS, desperately needed IMPROVEMENTS to your show!!!

We have been regular attendees for what, 4-5 years now? The marauders showed up, and it was just one of them, about 2 years ago?

The point is, why is our MN12/FN10 platform being so disregarded?, even though we make an effort to support the local car show you put on? We have been attending since it was Apex, in Santa Clara.

Honestly, i see an "Others" category, and when a single marauder (a car built 14 years after the first Tbird) shows up they're added to our group? How is that logical?

Couldn't they simply be placed with "others"? They never brought out 10 members, this was the first year their was more than 1 marauder (right?)...who is in this others category? supercars? seems as logical as placing them with Tbirds and Marks.

Also, why would the marauders complain about their competition, when its obvious that the competition is really not considered competing in the same class? That is comparable to putting a shelby gt in the same category as an N/A Ford fiests, and then saying to the fiestas when they ask to be given their own independent section."well, i dont see the shelbys crying, so give it a rest"

I am also empathetic to your side as the operations manager of this car show...I cant begin to imagine the difficulties and logistics involved with orientating a car show of this size, im sure it is a time consuming and difficult task, but you do it for the people, and im sure thats what keeps you going. Thank you, i think i speak for everyone when i say we appreciate local venues that allow us to show our cars, but with that being said, if you are interested in hearing a few critiques on how to improve your show from the standpoint of a contestant and observer, take these into consideration:
MN12/FN10 are comparable, and that's even arguable, but their is no way a marauder belongs in the same category. Grouping the Tbirds, Marks, and even Cougars is acceptable, anything else is really not reasonable to group with this section.
instead of attracting more participants and attention, your shows are getting smaller every year, haven't you wondered why? Besides the contestants who else knows about this car show? Maybe you should hire some models, and have pictures taken with contestants cars??? Hey im sure hooters caters, and that would solve another problem..., pizza for lunch, without wings??? Thanks for the awesome lunch considerations, but id rather have hooters, i mean chicken wings, even if it meant giving up napkins and plates(how else would they cover the extra cost of wings???) Maybe you could convince hooters to sponsored the show, have the girls pass out some coupons to bring contestants in, and become paying customers. Thats a little business 101 for you, build a relationship with hooters....it's good for TPS, good for me, good for the owners of Hooters, probably.
If you dont know where to put them "marauders", put 'em with the focus people, they seem to be complacent enough to accept them(you said they never complained)...and a focus and a marauder are as comparable as a tbird to a marauder, so why not?
How about next year, you make some frosted PIMP cups as trophies? If nothing else, for 1st place winners???

(other critiques)

Since when is a plastic liscence plate with stickers considered a trophy? You guys couldn't do any better? I thought it couldn't get any worse than a plastic clock, with a sticker...i guess i was wrong. How about an 8x11 plain piece of paper next year, with 1st, 2nd, 3rd written in crayon? At least then i could frame it..., what am i supposed to do with the liscence plate frame?

Don't take anything here to personally, I believe you have a good sense of humor mike..., i mean you gave out liscence plate frames (IN PLASTIC TO BOOT!!!lol) as trophies....seriously mike, that was comedic!!! we all laughed about it. Joking aside, we very much enjoy the venue you provide, but we would appreciate a little more input. You never know, it may turn out to be insightful and even spot-on(in some cases, like pizza and wings, and then use those hooters girls as models! thats spot-on!), and besides, it couldn't hurt to try something new. As i mentioned previously, the number of attending contestants is dwindling, you have to do something different before it dies (we don't want to see that), and we need to draw a larger crowd...(maybe an exhaust competition...i mean they're all competing secretly...,revving their engine so we can all hear their raspy rustang exhausts... but nobody gets a trophy....next year give the raspiest, gargliest, a trophy...perhaps a set of noise canceling headphones with a first place sticker on it?:D)

She won 1st place in her category ( V6 mustang ? ) ... and got 3 pages of congradulations on the norcal site. What a joke. No modifications necessary, just bust out your glue gun and razzle dazzle kit and BAM, youre a WINNER. Then you need to make a video of a fat chick swinging on a swing .. I almost ROFLMAO but I had to stop watching it was disgusting like watching a fat kit eat cake but it was just a big lumpy roll instead.

All... I can say is WOW to the comments posted above.... The T-Birds took 2 out of 3 prizes in their class and you are "whining" about the Birds not taking 1st place. Instead of complaining about how does a 14 year old car competes with a newer car why doesn't some one just bring a T-Bird to WOW everyone and you will win for sure. I don't control the voting as it's all done by the show attendees and obviously alot of pepole like the birds.

As far as your comments about the show getting smaller you need to start learning how to count... every year we've had more and more vehicles at the TPS Ford Fest except for this year but we still had over 100 vehicles and just about every car in the show was very nice. PLUS many of the show goers this year were new. In the past the TPS show included GM also BUT the show is now too large for a dual make show... which is why we have separate Ford and GM shows now. The show was much more manageable and to be honest I enjoyed it more than last year. The lower count this year probably has something to do with the fact that we switched it from Sunday to Saturday... everyone who attends the show has a great time and I rarely have any complaints except from you guys. This board is THE ONLY board where there are complaints about the show which is a shame....

Your "critiques and comments" are noted and if we ever decide to expand the show to a different venue they will be taken into consideration as to the classes we will be expanding into.

Mike,

I understand that their really isnt a "good" reason to switch the lineup, to a tbird only category, a mark8/marauder/crown vic category....Its the way "we" feel, and i realize that other groups feel unfairly categorized as well but have conveyed their sentiment in a more adult manner.... And for what its worth TBIRD/Mark8 guys, we did take home 2/3 of the awards, so its not as though we are not able to "compete" with marauders, as we beat out the other two............we just arent able to compete for 1ST and thats on us. The show isnt going to bend to our whims (if you havent already realized that), and this means WE need to adapt to the show. (next year James, you have to pull out some crazy mods, and bring home 1ST for us)

Mike...., I understand that there is not much you can do, aside from handing every participant a trophy for attending, to make some people happy. And its not your job to make everyone happy. (and a trophy for everyone would reduce the participant count by way of disillusion, as what is the worth of a trophy if everyone got one as well?)

But that aside, my critiques still stand. You have some room for improvement from my perspective, and perhaps without knowledge of the process of having a car show, i dont understand my critiques are unreasonable...

But please realize the plastic frame trophy is not as awesome as you and your staff probably thought it would be. I will say this about the trophy, it was inventive. I am sure you did the best with what you were given (well that is my assumption). I can guess that we are not bringing in enough cash to warrant a spectacular award, but please contact me next time you're in the design phase. Give me a number ($$$) and see what ideas i can come up with. Maybe make it a point to have a poll on the next trophy design, after you have a couple different ones to choose from (and this means opening your doors to outsiders and their abilities to network. you never know, a participant may be able to make you some outstanding trophies...or have them made, for the same cost as the old ones, you just have to open your doors buddy)

And about the straight up "slamming"/criticism....

It is clear that you dont feel that some of the criticism is warranted, because unfortunately, in some cases it was considered outright disrespectful. But you have tough skin, right? Of course you do, being a business owner and all..., you deal with the general population, and often times they suck...you have to be able to listen to ranting and ravings, and stay level headed...That aside, i want to make sure its known that Mike has gone out of his way to accommodate us. Be reasonable with requests people, and consider that he is not a doormat for our frustrations. He has allowed us to participate even though we are not exactly "show" worthy...at least not all of us yet. Havent you asked yourselves why yet??? He does this because this show is a fun outing, to meet and greet those with whom you may have chatted with online. It is a day to come out, and share something we all have in common...the love for the Ford family of vehicles. We should be enjoying ourselves, not arguing.

I have tried "my best" (lets not forget we are not all able to eloquently outline our feelings, and utilize empathy to consider other peoples feelings) to invite you to listen to my critiques, however ridiculous they may have been. (idk, the pimp cup seems like it is still a great idea, you should consider it...you could buy the plastic cups, and glue on the bling to spell out 1ST and TPS yourself)

You may feel that your show is in fact "fine" the way it is, and perhaps many of the participants and attendees felt similarly. That is not the point i have tried to make, the point i am making is that I saw room for improvement....and as a singular participant, i expect my opinion to be weighed as such, not as the opinion of a whole group. This also works in reverse, meaning, i expect other participants "singular" expressions of opinions are not received by you and your staff as opinions of their associated group. (though it is often said that you are guilty by association...;))

So seriously, find ways to improve the trophies...the food was fine, honestly...but somebody PLEASE GET TO WORK ON FINDING SOME MODELS....i only threw out the Hooters chicken wings idea in jest to bring up my point about needing more MODELS!!!!! I actually dont think chicken wings would be a good idea. Too much mess, and theyre expensive.

PS.
As for learning how to count...., ....i was simply going off of your own statement at the car show that the participant count was around 95....if you had not said it, where did i pull that number from? and dont say my A$$....i just remember a larger crowd of participants last time around....what i could estimate to be around 20-30 more cars than this last event...so your statement, alongside my pair of working eyes, brought me to the conclusion that your numbers for this past car show were less than previous years. either way, if you dont see it as a problem, then that is the end of it.

WE need to adapt to the show. (next year James, you have to pull out some crazy mods, and bring home 1ST for us)

.... NO way. That car is immaculate, low mileage, and it already does have a lot of engine / performance modifications. What more could you possibly do ???? bling bling interior ?

Previous shows I had made an effort to try to bring more of our cars out. I think this may be the last year I attend TPS. Let Ramon take it all by himself, he's the real winner here.

I need to go work on some Toyotas now .. and a Kia. What .. I just got a call for a Subaru. Fun stuff.

Thats stupid.

The M112 produces too much Heat on the 3.8 engine to be efficient.

Upper IC tube is already Polished.

Let me put a smoke machine underneath the car, and some teddy bears on the dash, maybe even a life size figure of the Burger king .. LMAO.

or just a big F YOU MUSTANGS SUCK across the windshield, how about that ?

I never said anything about running the M112 on his S/C... you could simply place it on the engine, and probably win...its a big supercharger....especially if it its a polished, and noted as a "cobra" supercharger....gotta remember to pander to the audience...and guess who that is (:confused:mustangs;))

actually, i may just bring out an M90 and toss it on my engine see what kind of reaction i get...maybe spray it black....

I did see the polished upper inter cooler tube, its very shiny...just needs a matching polished Double Inter-Cooler...and a polished raised top...the plain M90 could use a polishing, or something...gray makes it blend, it should stand out.

Hey all it takes is $$MONEY$$....and its not like money is a hard thing to find these days

just ideas, im sure JMAT has already considered a few of them

... yeah, put that supercharger right next to your flux capacitor and hover conversion. ;)

You have a spare M90 ?? I have a customer still looking for one since Becerra raised his price when I tried to get it. Then he wants to trade for me to get the broken bolt out of his crankshaft .. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA .. sure buddy.

I had to correct the maurader guy at the show, he called my car a Thunder Chicken - its actually a Thunder Cock if you want to be a dick about it.

Thunderbird paved the way for all Supercharged Fords including the Lightning and Cobra - its not a Cobra supercharger, its an Eaton.

Imm ..... you already know, I dont pander to douchebag mustang owners.

Dan, delete some of your msg's....so i can PM you
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No i sold my last M90, ...and you bring up a good point regarding Fords development of supercharged sports cars and trucks stemming from the success of the Thunderbird SuperCoupe...

And yes, youre right when saying the m112 is not technically a "cobra" supercharger, its an Eaton M112, and it was also used on jaguars (and lightnings?), but mustang owners are commonly known to be a bunch of conceited folks, and have limited knowledge regarding anything outside of their "poo-stain" circle. So you cannot say Eaton M112, they wont know what that is, you have to say "Cobra" supercharger....

Ehhhh ....

PM box is open again.

Some lady just crashed her car into a Van in front of my house ( at least it was only a Chrysler ) :D

... again. That was after this kid just drove through the creek fence LOL

ps. the root of my disgust for Mustangs ( mostly their owners ) stems from the fact that I am really a Chevy guy and the Corvette is superior to the Mustang in EVERY way. Hands down, no question asked, end of story. :p

The muustang ( My little pony ?? - thats a girls toy by the way ) was competing with the Camaro ( we own one of these also ) .. sure both cars are great for driving in a straight line, but neither compare to the comfort or agility of the Tbirds. ;)

Oh ya .. you can always call me or stop by ;)

You shouldnt have to edit your posts. Freedom of speech afterall, its in the 1st amendment - 4th of July, you know I would know about these things considering my American heritage. God bless America - and nobody else.

yeah.

dont forget i just finished an ethics course,

so im all refreshed on free speech and all that ....

the one thing is, what may just be free speech to you or me, is out of line, and instigating a backlash because its interpreted to be disrespectful to others...

Thats the problem with modern society.

Too many people being Politically Correct

We dont want to offend anybody or step on anybodies toes.

I really dont care anymore. People need to be put into their place. ( Beneath our feet )

THIS IS NORCAL SUPER COUPE CLUB <-- Spartan voice

IF YOU DONT OWN A SUPER COUPE, THUNDERBIRD OR MARK, DONT POST IN THIS SECTION, GET OUT OF HERE, YOU DONT BELONG, WE DONT WANT YOU HERE.

I have meetings with the local Tbird owners on a regular basis, we live by our own rules and standards. Tired of being pushed around, we push back.
