Your first pass--fess up

Another thread here got me thinking: how many of you remember your first drag pass? How many still have the timeslip?

Mine says it was 10/18/03, 10:17 PM, at the California Speedway, in my 95 LX. I know the following numbers are horrible. Obviously, I'm not trying to impress anyone. We all start somewhere, but at least I can say I won my first drag race (beat a first-gen Neon by 1.0142...I rule).

R/T 1.434
60' 2.374
330' 6.699
1/8 10.202
MPH 70.83
1000' 13.203
1/4 15.753
MPH 88.06

I might still have the slip in the car, My first pass was in my 95 2 days after I bought it. I ran roughly 16.20

I had a very similar first run lol good times

Don't remember my first pass or know where the slip is. But I do know when I first started racing it was in my 95. And I would manually shift it and hit the rev limiter then it would run rich as heck and run 16's maybe a 17 in there somewhere:(. It was somewhere around 2000-2001 at MIR.

my first pass was like a 14.5 and i thought i would throw up with disappointment. got it to 12.7 without changing really all that much other then me driving like a dope. and thats with an auto.. oooooh boy

My first pass on the 95 SC, it was about 3 years old at the time, completely stock. Early in the season, still had my H-rated winter tires on it ... 15.47 at 90 mph.

cheers

My very first pass? Let's see, "borrowed" mom's '66 F-85 to go to National Speedway and got talked into racing it. Class K stock or something stupid slow like that. I seem to recall it running in the 20's.

.....or do you mean with the TBird? :p ;)

First time ever I believe is in this thread, September 2005. http://www.sccoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67633

This was a weekend of racing and my first numbers on an essentially stock AOD car were not pretty.

2:29pm 9/2 - Test & Tune
R/T - .363
60' - 2.909
1/8th - 10.833 @ 69.49

My best time of the weekend was the next day
5:12pm 9/3 - Time Trials

60' - 2.208
1/8th - 9.962 @ 70.20
1/4 - 15.573 @ 88.98 <------ Best

new head gaskets, a lentech valve body, and the best the car ever achieved was 14.637 @ 91.62 with a 2.075 60ft in May 2009.

my first pass in my car was in 2001. everyone i took for a ride on the street kept telling me it was a 12 second car and i should take it to the track. so i decided to take it. I enjoyed corner carving much more than drag racing back then and actually picked on all my drag racing buddies. my first pass ever resulted in a 13.85 @ 102 mph. i was very mad. a guy with a buick gn came up to me and was real impressed with my car. he noticed i was not happy with the run. asked me if i spun and i said a little. he told me to get some better tires and i would hit 12's. so i went home got a set of bfg drag radials. went back and ran a 12.92. i can honestly say if that guy with the gn never came up to me, i would never gone back. i guess i can say i am hooked now!!!

My first pass in the birdie was the day that I bought it. I went to a friend's house and we made a CAI, took the silencer out, and cut the mufflers off. The car ran a 15.89 at 90mph and I was surprised it was that slow. Picked up a lot with exhaust and a late model blower.

My first pass ever down the track was in my race car while I was testing for my NHRA license back in 2004. It ran a 10.21 @132mph. That spoiled me.

I thought I had enough mods to run 13s....first pass was a 15.0 @ 89 mph

David

PS: Car went even slower on the other passes. Kurt K. ran a new best of 14.0 that same night.

Well okay, my first passes with the '95 were all in the 15's. I thought I had so much more than that but with the street tires and manually shifting the car never did any better. I remember thinking that all i wanted was to run 14's and I would be a happy guy, so the next time I went I changed to real tires and ran a low 14. Decided then that all I really wanted was to run 13's and of course I haven't stopped upping the ante since.

Beating you was fun while it lasted. Now I have to hope you still sleep at the tree.

I haven't had time to dig up the old timeslip to check the numbers or actual date. I do know that my first time down the track was in my SC on a hot evening. I manually shifted my AOD to a disappointing 16 something....horrible traction and holding each gear too long, were my biggest issues.

edit: ok, found the slip and checked historical weather data. I ran a 16.18s @ 85.98 mph, with a 2.368s 60'. And it looks like the hot evening was really only about 75 °F. The date was May 12th, 1995.

As for the night I raced David and ran a 14.0, that was in May of 2001 and I ran a 14.071 s @ 94 mph. I haven't found that timeslip yet.

My first pass was in my dads 97 4.6 bird. I was looking to get an idea of what these cars ran before I started modding my 95. I ran a sting of 15.5's or so. I don't even remember my reaction times.

I never ran my 95 because I knew it was slow even after mods:(

I took my 93 super coupe to the track for the first time like 3 years ago. All my car had done to it was a 9" k&n air filter, 76maf, and a shift kit. I got to the staging lanes and the only other cars in the staging lanes were two Corvettes and a vortec supercharged 2002 Camaro. lol I got lined up against the Camaro. I knew I was going to get my butt handed to me but i decided i was at least going to give him a run for his money off the line so I stalled it up as much as the tranny would let me. I left on the last yellow to cut a good light and slammed on the gas. The Camaro look off and I just sat there spinning and had to let out of it. I think my run was like a 16.8 @ 86mph. He ran a 12.8 @ 110mph. lol
