After going from this. M112 Steg ported accufab single blade TB 18lbs of boost
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u216/blown38/Photo0316.jpg

To this 2.3 whipple same TB. Didn't think it was gonna make 24lbs of boost:eek: Gotta back that off alittle.;)
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u216/blown38/Carlisle2011064.jpg

First run it went 11.38 at 103 with a 1.71 60'. Laying over at the top of 3rd gear.

2nd run hit it off the line harder cause the AFR was good on the first run. Babied it most of the rest of the way to a 12.06 at 91 with a 1.59 60'.

3rd run left harder again to a 1.55 60'. ran it WOT till just before the 8th then cruised thru the traps at 11.44 at 107. couldn't let the mustang pass me.

Decided not to chance it anymore and loaded it on the trailer. Come to find out they screwed up punching numbers in during time runs and had me qualified for the quick 8 at an 8.95.

I am thinkin the we are getting spark blow out. Need to pull the plugs this week and see what they look like.

About the best the car did with the m112 in this type weather and less weight and a 2 step launch was 11.2. So I'm thinkin we can get it down to a 10.50 or so on just the blower. Last year on the m112 and a 250 shot of NOS I went a best of 10.15 at 131.

Here's a couple videos. They are of the 3rd run. One on car and one hand held.

five speed or auto? I assume five speed from the 60 foot times.

Thanks guys.

No manual. Just a built 4R75W with a 3k stall Dirty Dog triple plate converter. She has pulled a best of 1.44 60' with I think at the time was a 125 shot coming on at 3k rpms. Need to get it back on the dyno to see where the power band is to maybe have Alan adjust the stall on it.

Goal is 10.0's no juice but hopefully no more than a 50 shot, so the bottle lasts longer;)

Took 4lbs of boost out of it and tightened the plug gap to .025" hooked the 2step back up and hit the track.

First pass was a 11.089 at 123.04 16* timing 20.5 psi 103 race gas

2nd pass put 3* of timing back in it and went 10.946 at 123.41

3rd pass added 2 more degrees and tried to get the 2-3 shift to come up, didn't work for the shifting:confused: and went 10.97 at 122 best 60 of the day of 1.525. The 1-2 and 2-3 shift came 200 rpm sooner maybe because too much timing:confused:

4th pass pulled 4* back out left the shift point change alone and went 10.974 at 123.61. Shift points went back to where they were originally:mad: need to get the 2-3 to come up to 6500 or more from 6200.

Using the user adjustable controls on a XCal 2. Never have figured out how to do the shift points by MPH in the dang thing. Might have to throw the boost back in it to get to where we need to be. But the 60's are looking great, car weighed in at 4200 with me.

Now to get back to work on my car.:D

Turns out with the shiney pulley in the pics it makes 22.5 psi instead of the 24 we saw first time out. I guess when it was laying over due to not enough fuel or spark blowout the pressure was backing up in the intake.

We ran the smaller pulley a couple weeks ago at VMP when Nickleman was there. No laying over this time, but didn't see much gain from it. Didn't get to tuning with it that time out either. Just stuck it on and pulled a couple degrees of timing to see what it would do.

Guess I need an updated shot of the engine. Since those pics I have changed it to a return style fuel system. Not much difference in the pics.

Car has run a best of 10.80 without the nitrous... which I am in the process of installing. Maybe get it out to Cecil this saturday and see if we can beat its previous best of 10.15 with a M112 and 250 shot of N2O.

Wanna get to 10.0's with a small enough shot of N2O that will last a race day.

Found this pic from import vs domestic last november.

Good job with the car chris. Why will it not go faster than 10.80's with the whipple? Is that maxxed?

Do you nVA guys ever travel to Richmond Dragway?

BLOWN38
12-13-2012, 11:10 PM
Thanks. Well it is 4200lbs with driver.;) Could prolly get it to go a little faster. Need more seat time at the track or get it to a dyno and see how much timing it likes.

Never been to richmond dragway. We do hit VMP a couple times a year. How strict are they on tech?

JT's03
12-14-2012, 09:00 PM
Dang Chris, that thing needs to go on a diet:p

I've never been to richmond dragway but would make the trip if I knew there were going to be some fast v6's out there(it's a couple hr's from me). I mostlly run at motor mile dragway or elk creek down this way.

I like the way you fabbed the sump. What material is the added metal? I'm going to make a dip in my stock tank and fab a dual hanger that sits inside the dip that bolts to the fuel hat from the outside. Dont know if the material I add as to be aluminum or not.

Funny thing is it has already been on a diet. Crash bumpers are out, air bags out, radio gutted just the face is there with the nitrous purge in the mute button, lighter seats, narrowed front wheels.

It was some sheet metal from lowes 16 gauge I think.

Here a few pics of what I did.

I was over on moddedmustangs.com reading in the drag section and there is a 3v running 110mph in the 1/8th with a 2.3 whipple. Seen that and thought of this car ha.

I'd be happy to knock off some 6.80's with the v6 and the tiny 62mm turbo lol.

Well we hit up Cecil for the last time this year. Put 100 shot of N2O to it. It pulled a 1.41 60' and ran 10.31 at 128. Ran a 10.89 without the juice. Then on one pass the launch was so violent the inertia switch tripped immediatly. I'll get som videos up later.

Chris,

It that car launching off a foot brake or trans brake ?

David

BLOWN38
12-19-2012, 04:00 PM
Its footbrake with a MSD 2 step set at 2100. The 2 step is turned on by the OD being turned off then the brake lights activate it, when the brake is released it goes. The blower is making about 10psi on the 2 step then the n2o is on a window switch set to activate at 3k. Torque converter is 3800.

Does this car have a liquid IC, or just using the methanol for cooling ?

David

BLOWN38

It still has the liquid IC setup. Kinda just gonna use the Meth for the street without race gas, but need to get some runs and experiment with it.

May end up putting a big tank in the trunk that we can add ice to. Kinda like Wise's is setup with the coils in it so I can just have antifreeze mix in the IC system for the winter and just drain the tank of water.

Thanks and no problem.

Kinda stalled with the car right now. Got the new trans in it and something is still slipping. Thinking its the converter right now. Gonna pull the one out of my T Bird and see if that fixes it.

Did run a 10.94 with it at Fun Ford in Richmond. After getting the tune straight on it and the cobwebs out of Dad's head.

You sure it isn't the check ball in the direct piston? When they leak you lose pressure. It's a common issue on the 4r70w.

BLOWN38
07-18-2013, 10:43 AM
I'm not sure of anything at this point.:D But I have locked the converter in all gears and watched the TCC duty cycle stay at 100% and when you push the gas it will jump 3-400 RPM.

At the end of last year when I would lock the converter in 3rd you could see it pull down the RPM initially then right back up to where it was. And earlier in the year the trans stopped going into gear unless you really reved it. Come to find out the valve body loosened up. So that probably smoked every clutch in the trans including the TC. I did not get to see the clutches that came out of the trans so I don't know how bad they were.

I gotta say your car really has me stoked. So much so I think its more mod time! My entire bottom end is cast. I could get a srt8 crank they are the same but forged. I can also get forge rods and pistons. I think 345 ci. in is probably enough. Can you tell me what compression you are running? Do you have a custom nitrous system? I am prtty sure I car get a kb blower for my car too. One last thing What gear are you running? mine is a 3:92. I have a 3200 stall fti converter. I wonder if I could go higher and still be streetable ? Like I said your car is now hands down my favorite... Tim

Scott Long

might as well get the newer hemi Tim. My 2013 was 395 hp stock before I start messing with it. Which nitrous kit did you use? I'm thinking that will be one of my mods next spring.

BLOWN38
09-24-2013, 03:32 PM
Thanks Tim. Compression right now is 9.25:1. Blower is making 25 psi. There is a nitrous kit on the car but we are not using it at the moment. Last year with the 2.3 whipple and 100 shot it went 10.30 at 128. With a 1.41 60'. Gears are 4.10's and converter stall is 3800 tire diameter is 28". Years ago with a M112 at 18psi and a 250 shot it went 10.15 at 132. It does just fine on the street with the 3800 stall.

Guess this needs an update too. I did find out the converter clutch was cooked by putting the converter in from my Bird. Same stall just a 9.5 " instead of 12". Took it on the street and it was locking up good. Went to the track and made 3 passes. After checking the datalog of the 3rd run I didn't see a RPM drop where the converter should have locked. Didn't think too much of it. Then we took the car on the street to a show and no more lock up:mad:. So we are now fryng converter clutches. I still think there is a problem in the trans. It now does not like to go into gear cold even after a fresh filter and fluid.

Anyway the car went a 10.85 art 127 on the last pass at MIR. Went 10.95 at 126 this past weekend in Atlanta. It was soupy outside.

Hey Mike Puckett, the announcer was talking about you banging gears for the saturday events. I said "Hey I know that guy":D

Scott I make plenty of power off the bottle for only 345 cubes.... At he .Mopar event the only late model Mopar faster than mine was a srt8 charger. he ran 10.5 For everything he has done I wasn't impressed. Blower nitrous and running on alky. I would think on a 200 shot with a blower I should be low 10s. Its to bad you are so far away I would love to see that big black Merc run. I may have a Mopar but i still love the blue oval!!:D Nothing like the wine of a SC on a pass. I love it.
