Replacing Cig lighter on early interior car?

Anyone know how to replace the lighter socket without braking things in the process?

Take the lower tray out and reach in, disconnect the center wire off the post, and the outer wire off the tab. Then unscrew the shell of the assembly and it should come right out.

If its too tight to reach, another way would be to take off the console top off, dash bezel, and then the whole center section. Then you should be able to reach it.
