Rear suspension bushing upgrades

bushing

i also used them! when the install was done i didnt had anymore wheel hop but i replaced everything in the rear..........Thanks again corey for the walk through over the phone,u really helped with the bushing install.

What exactly does that rear control arm kit cover? upper and lower rear contol arms? it says spindle position only...so is that just the 2 lower 1 upper bushings that connect spindle to upper and lower control arms? I like the price.

Is this essentially the same thing just 4 times the price?!!!:

If you're talking about these parts http://www.energysuspensionparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=4.3163 then yes, spindle only.

The Cobra bushings ( http://www.energysuspensionparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=4.3161 ) will supposedly fit the LCA, but you'll still need a toe link compensator (or some kind of filler) for each side, and something for the upper control arm. (They press into the Mark VIII ones, I've been told. No guarantee - I've not tried it.)

THAT said - between the two, you've got all BUT the UCA/frame bushing. And since that's a specially designed one to allow the camber to be set, I'd stick with Motorcraft or Moog for those, and leave them rubber.

Delrin!!!!

If you're using Delrin, DLF's bushings are actually very affordable.

Let's say you didn't like his $325 price per set. Well, SCP gets $100 per set - but that's one side, so for both sides you're at $200. And SCP's needs a set of toe comps for spacers - so, those are at least $45 each for the good ones at RockAuto (and goes up from there!). That means you're at $290 before shipping - or even more.

Thanks!

And FWIW, that other delrin kit doesn't appear to have hardcoated sleeves or any way to lube the bushings.

I have those poly spindle ones.FWIW a
I have Poly "cobra specific" ones for the inner lower "Mark VIII" control arms, with KenW made washer spacers. I reused my compensators.
Doug's kit will delete the compensator which is not a bad thing. At the time Doug had not made the Delring units. IRS mounts will be next if I ever go back in there, but I feel the cars wheel hop issues are under control on my car so not sure when I'll go back in there.

What does the toe compensator link do and what do you achieve by eliminating it?

It's there to minimize excessive toe changes during acceleration/deceleration due to the soft stock bushings.

Save money. It's no longer needed with Delrin bushings.
