can an ambient air gauge be used as a IAT gauge?

I wouldn't see why not considering all Ford Temp sensors use the same transfer function. If you removed the housing you could even use a ECT sensor.

I have a cyberdyne ambient air temp gauge, I stripped the coating off of the sensor because it was a little slow with the plastic coating. I made a fitting where the crosstalk vacuum line used to be. It works pretty well. The only thing about it I dont like is when its really cold it blinks "ICE" at me until the car warms up.

thats awesome...is there a gauge that can convert the correct voltages into *F?

and the ACT and IAT sensors are the same on our cars?
