what are symptoms of a failing or bad mlps ? should this part be updated anyway from stock ? 95

the manual lever position sensor for the 94-95 automatics

it lets the ecu know position the shift lever is in

3 possible results of a failed mlps:

no neutral start circuit
no rpm drop on gear engagement (which could cause engine stall)
loss of reverse lights

any of those 3 could possibly be a faulty mlps, the older mlps prior to 98 are analog where as the newer mlps are digital, meaning they have many little switches inside. If you want to use a newer mlps on the supercoupe ecu, you'll need to wire all the switches in parallel and run a resistor to each switch to simulate the voltage range that each switch would normally be representing if it was an analog mlps.

the older mlps are known to have a bad seal causing moisture to get in them and wreak havoc

actual vref at trans connector is typically 4.9v despite regulated 5v

park 4.13-4.85
rev-3.305-4.13
neu-2.51-3.305
drv-1.745-2.51
sec-1.01-1.745
1st-0.3-1.01

you'll need to figure out different resistor values to target somewhere in the middle of those ranges
