Replacing coolant overflow tank

I have recently made a CAI for my car and the coolant tank rubs. I am looking at removing the tank and using an aftermarket replacement one such as this one from CXRacing http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchan...oduct_Code=CT-MUSTANG8397&Category_Code=COTKS. I was wondering if this would work or for that matter would any old coolant tank work such as http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Gasket-9135-Stainless-Reservoir/dp/B004E4IBMW. If someone has used something else they like please let me know. I saw the ones made by canton racing however that doesn't help my issue with fitment.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

If you just connected your overflow tube to the one on the bottom, it would overflow just fine, but wouldn't be able to draw coolant back unless you added a pick-up tube inside.

The first one you posted has an inlet on the bottom though, so it will be able to draw fluid back with no pick-up tube.

You can make either work, but one is a bolt on (provided you have the room to mount it) and the other will need modified.

Thanks for the reply, after looking at where I want to mount the tank i.e next to my radiator by my intake I realized neither one of those will actually fit. I have a friend currently making me a custom stainless steel replacement to fit the exact space I am looking for and hope to post pictures of everything soon. We plan on putting fitting on it so it can also feed back into the tank.

Thanks,

Dan

I plan on mounting it right next to the radiator on the passenger side since I no longer have an air box and have enough room next to my air filter.
