Not sure if this is in the right place, but I am going to check out an 89 or 90 SC soon for possible purchase.

The car has an electrical short and doesnt run. I am not afraid of the short, being that I am an electric lift truck technician by trade, tacking down the short isnt an issue for me. I do it every day. Are there and common electrical issues that arise in the wiring or components that short out?

What else should i be looking at on these cars?

Check the ignition switch.....

They tend to fall apart and cause all sorts of issues....

Test the mirrors and sun visor lights....

There is a green / yellow wire in the main harness next to the drivers side seat that likes to corrode and break....

Also check front suspension....

Upper and lower control arms are most likely shot....

head gaskets tend to blow around 100k or so...

blowers tend to wear rear bushings after time too...

other than that the usual car stuff

check the front and rear springs, i bought mine with 2 broken rear ones. .

check the harmonic balancer and crank sensor, make sure when your cranking the car that the upshift light stays off when your cranking, if it stays on too long something MIGHT be wrong with the crank sensor.
