Installed HBJ ballancer now it wont run?

We just installed a HBj ballancer and the 94 SC 6cyl wont start. The car was being driven up a hill. It started to looose power then lunged ahead. He pulled over and saw the old Harmonic Ballancer was starting to fall off. The old ballancer had broke near the oil seal and the bolt also broke. We removed the ballancer part that was still around the crank shaft and installed the new HBj ballancer. Any ideas why it wont start. It does have spark
Thanks for any help you all could offer

Did you install the reluctor ring from the old balancer onto the BHJ? If you did that then there is a good chance the crank sensor may have been damaged.

The ring was changed. Whould there be spark if the sensor was damaged? Also does the ballancer need to come back off the change it or can we just remove the pullies.
Thanks a lot

Do you get an upshift light when cranking?
Does not apply to a 94/5. The crank sensor is responsible for spark so that's highly likely the culprit. You are sure that the HB seated down all the way, right? BHJ's can be very tight going on but if you torqued the bolt to spec you can be sure it's on all the way.

The crank sensor is easy to change, no need to remove anything other than maybe the lower pulley might be in the way, not sure on that.

We replaced the crank sensor and torqued the ballancer bolt to the proper torque and turned it over and no lights come on, on the dash. Still wont start but it was running before the ballancer broke. Fuel is getting to the motor. Is there a chance the reluctance? ring is in the wrong position? does the ring and sensor actualy tell the ignition when to fire? Is there a way of checking the timing by hand without the motor running. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, the crank sensor tells it when to fire. Maybe you can observe the orientation of the reluctor rings to the crank sensor (maybe with a light/mirror you can see in there). Is it possible you got an 89-93 balancer instead of a 94/5? The only difference is the early balancer would position the reluctor ring too far away from the sensor.
