Black switch with red button in trunk?

There is a black switch in the driver side inside of the trunk... it has a red button that is pushed in the down position, it has a slot to stick a screwdriver in to pop it up. Can someone please inform me on what this is for?

fuel shut off switch shuts fuel off in case of impact

Yeah. Hit it with your hand and the button will pop up and the car will no longer run.
