Driveshaft removal

Can driveshaft be removed by dropping the pumpkin and pulling i out from the rear, or can it only be done by removing the gas tank. Would this be any easier than removing the gas tank?

I don't think so. I've got mine out now and the pumpkin is dangling on the back 2 bolts. The spare tire well and rear mount is in the way. You'd have to drop the pumpkin really far down to be out of the way enough and it may not want to go that far with the axles in it.

You can do it by lowering the pumpkin if you also lower the rear of the tank a bit.

what if I just remove the pumpkin entirely? is this easier than removing the gas tank?

No because to remove the pumpkin you have to remove the axles. I've removed the driveshaft by just removing the 4 pumpkin bolts, letting it dangle and then pushed it towards the back of the car with my foot as far as it would go with the axles still in it, it gave me just enough room to slide the driveshaft out.
