View Full Version : Oil pumps - which one?

I am in the process of rebuilding an engine. I see that melling makes two pumps for our cars. One is an M137 standard volume and the other is an M246 high volume. I am not a huge fan of high volume pumps as I typically prefer a high pressure - standard volume pump. Which pump do the folks on here typically use when performing a rebuild?

my last sc i did a high volume and all my chevys as well. motor made 80 lbs cold and was always quite. iv heard hi-vol. can run the pan dry before the oil comes back down but i never had a problem. always run 6qt's. plan on doing it with the next motor too.
