We had my daughter's 1998 Mustang with a Supercoupe engine on the 1/8 mile. The car posted a 7.77 @ 89.7mph.
She really wants to take it to the 1/4 mile track and see what it will do.

Here is a run from time trials............

Nice numbers, is there alot done to the motor? I ask because right now we are working on putting my old SC motor in a 98 mustang tring to iron out the bugs.

Todd,

Sounds like very low 12s or even high 11s with the right conditions. I'll bet she's really enjoying it.

We went to the 1/8th mile track last Friday for Test n Tune. There were around 7 cars of the import variety.
While my daughter was in the staging lanes, one of the Honda guys called her out. I guess he thought the Mustang was a plain old V6 Mustang.
Seems after his 10.56 run and her 7.85, none of the imports would line up with her.

Thanks for the link. We're looking to make some changes to our son's 98 3.8L/5spd Mustang coupe. Last weekend he made his first passes at Thompson Raceway in Ohio at a private track rental. Here's a video of one of his first times down the track -

The car is stock except for duals, suspension, 3.90:1 gears, and DR's. Your build thread will certainly be helpful to us...

Thanks,
If you decided to go the SC route, the first thing you will kill is the stock Mustang 5spd.

Do you think the stock 5 speed would fail even if we dropped in a stock SC motor? We won't be hitting the drag strip often. TIA!

[sorry for cluttering up your thread]

The stock SC engine has an easy time making 325ft/lbs of torque at the wheels.
Your 5 speed should have a tag number of 1352-000-260 which is rated for 175-230ft/lbs of torque.

Wow !

Todd,

Your daughter does better burnouts than I do. I was especially impressed by the small jab of the throttle going through the water box and then starting the burnout outside of the box. Most newbs just sit in the water box and burn em.

Thanks for the compliment! :D

My dad has made sure to teach me proper drag strip etiquette and I've taken plenty of passes down the drag strip for my burnouts to look like that.
