So I have TONS of free time at work. Figure I have enough to update and check back to this thread daily if needed. We all know about the actual top list on sccoa, no one looks at it, not up to date, dont really care. This is 2012 only, 1/4mi only. Ill post up an example format, and you can reply to this thread or PM in that format and Ill copy and paste if it falls in the top 15. Why 15, well thats enough I think. Must be a ford mn12. Any power adder, any tire, any motor, dont care. Theres really no rules here, just a list to show the top 15 fastest guys of 2012(you driving your car!). I dont need pics of time slips, Ill take what Im told. If you see bs from someone, say it. You can comment and post in here also. Someone can sticky this if they want.

yes conditions were pretty bad, first time trial it stalled out of the hole, way lean. added 50% fuel, went out for 2nd time trial. just blipped the throttle a couple times. now was about 1 point rich. now it was first round. well i forgot to take the air out of the tires!. spun hard so i shifted into 2nd to kill the power. so i lost. but that was just the 2nd time it ever went 130.

but yes all the bugs i think are gone!

I already know what my cars will run in this weather...fast enough to get sent home, but not fast enough to improve my personal best. So there isn't much point in racing and getting kicked out, unless it's going to be for running a new personal best ET.

More like sweat time. It just isn't worth it until fall weather hits.

It's called "seat time", it's worth it by honing your reaction and 60' times. Most races are lost in poor performance of those 2 things, I know I'll be stuck around the 11.4 range with the hot/humid weather but as the saying goes "nothing beats experience".........

Oh but it is! Therein lies the problem. Practice, practice, practice. Ball players don't wait to practice just before a playoff game.

You hone your skills on the tree, see what the car likes on tire pressures and set up, minor tweaking, working out any bugs that exist, etc, etc. Then when fall comes guess what, its game on!!!!

Since attending a drag race school a couple years ago my reaction times are never worse than .1XX and very often in the .0XX range...unless I'm purposely sitting on the starting line to experiment with the trans brake launch rpms. I've already got a pretty good idea where tire pressure and launch rpms need to be, so I'm not really going to learn much practicing on a local track in the heat of summer, then racing the car on another track in cool fall weather. Most of what I need to tweak can be done on race day just by making a couple practice runs.

I don't really care about beating the car in the other lane, unless it's Kurt. The only reason I even race my cars is to prove to myself how fast they are and to see the results from mods I've done. Back in the early 2000s I used to race nearly every week...these days I'd rather just enjoy driving them on the street and race them once in a while to see how they compare to other cars.

As far as SB goes I'm not sure if I'll be in the SC or the UnderBird...I love my '91 N/A V6 bird but man I love banging gears in the SC lol. I will most likely bring the UnderBird since we go to the track and the Lx is slowly being built to be one bad NA V6 bracket bird :)

Actually, I should clarify that "Cobra R" style fiberglass hoods are piles.... I think the cowl style you have requires much less work to make it fit correctly. The Cervini ram air style hoods are probably the best fitting fiberglass hood out of the box.

Corey posted the list up as 2012, more so I thought as a current list of fastest cars in the club since the SCCoA doesnt do that. Excluding the shootout runs excludes people who are broke down ( I fit that bill pretty close) or for other reasons beyond their control that didnt get to a track to run. In my opinion it wouldnt be a very accurate list

I thought your post read the fastest times in the club for 2012 not how many times you went to the track. I dont see Kurts or Ryans name on the current list. From my standpoint you changed the rules. Its your list so you can do that but it doesnt make it an accurate list of who have the fastest cars in the club. Some people have circumstances that dictate how many times they get to the track.

There are alot of people who only run their cars at the Shootout and nowhere else the entire year, what fun is that? If you put slicks/drag radials on at the Shootout then you should be running your car somewhere during the other 364 days of the year.............at least once, come on people.

Yes, my name isn't on the list and I guess it might not be. I didn't go to the track prior to the Power Tour because I didn't want to possibly jeopardize my trip. I let mk8's on the list because I figured they couldnt hang:rolleyes:

The thing thats a shame is, people go to the shootout, run there, and will come back here to post. It really not like they're posting their new best after hard work of tweaking and practice, its more like they're posting their new "only" not new "best".

The list is to see who are the fastest sccoa members of 2012. We'll keep it that way.

NOW, if we want, we can put time, trap, name, car, and location

Other than the Arnolds possibly, this will confirm that people with the KY tag are shootout best only's.

This is the first list, its open to changes, I dont know what took you guys so long to whine.

I see where Dave is coming from, and it shows that everyone on sccoa wants to be cool. Thats more important than improving:rolleyes:. If we limited it to NON shootout only, there would be a lot of fast, popular supercoupes, not listed on "Binky's list of Badass's" And those fast popular people that everyone on here talks about, will be lacking attention.

My list is the be all end all list, the cool cats, top dogs, head honchos, the best of the best of the best. The true racers, snapin necks, and cashing checks. Its not about attention

When I ran my best time in November of 2010, we woke up with frost on our windows :) I don't remember the exact details, but the air temp was in the low 50's, but the track was warm enough that I could hook (1.54 60')....I think the DA might have been in the negative range:eek: It was basically a perfect storm for my car.

Is there enough interest to do something as a reward for the top 15, top 10 etc. It would be cheap and easy to do some stickers, or shirt. It may be motivation to get to the track more. I love my shootout trophies and competing there, but braging rights are fun. This would give everyone on sccoa a chance to get something, west coast guys etc that dont make it to the shootout, or big break down guys at the shootout that want to come back for some revenge before the end of the year.

There are currently no stangs on the list, I know in the original rules I allowed them with sc swaps, since theres none on the list and noone to piss off because of that. Im changing that rule. 2013 will be no mark8's also. Since I went ahead and allowed them this year, Ill continue to honor that.

Yeah, Gateway is one of the best tracks I've ever run on. I know its got to be awesome in Cool weather. Awesome pit area.

MIR & VMP are also great tracks though I don't get to run them much. Cecil is backwoods, decent pit and hooks like a mo fo!! :D

That does it !! I'm making my own list

Your right. He isnt changing rules in mid stream. Hes just looking for the fastest times for the whole year in the club, which should make for an accurate list.

Corey, I still think this list is valid since it will be a way to go back and look at this historically. David's list will be a rolling list so it will be impossible to go back and look at the top 2012 times in 2014.

Im not continuing this list. Ken just seconded that my list is fubar because I went changing rules in the middle of it.

However the only thing I really changed was strictly enforcing MN12's only. The list was still going to be alll of 2012, including the shootout. And to be fair I was going to continue to leave mk8's because I DID not want to change the rules mid way.

Everyone that complained at the rules was making up little thoughts in their heads and not paying attention. I changed ONE(1) rule, not the whole thing.

This list ended when Neibert started his. Maybe everyone should go there and suggest his should be tweaked, just like everyone did here.

I thought this was a good idea when I started it:rolleyes:

Actually Corey it is a great idea, a list for the YEAR 2012 of fastest cars in our club. Then all the ideas of excluding the shootout runs because some only will have a fast run there. A fastest list is just that a fastest list, not how many runs you made during the year. I for one have had a tough year and the car has been down with a hurt motor for the summer and if Im lucky I will get a shot at running the 1/4 mile at the shootout. The list should have a couple of 10s, a ton of 11s and a few 12s. If your top 15 has 14 and 15 second cars on it than it doesnt show case what our cars are capable of to the people outside the club. And Neiberts list isnt accurate as it goes back 12 months rather than just a simple Jan 1 to Dec 31 of 2012. You just need to keep your list as is untill Dec 31 2012. Neiberts list was more of a "give Corey grey hair", guess he is doing that:D

1MTNCAT

I agree with what Ken has just said. I think we keep both lists. I have added mine to the other as well a while back. There are those that have not run this year but have run in the last twelve months. Maybe you guys can figure a way to do it differently by Jan.

Its a good list showing who has run this year. I see no problem with it. Hopefully I will change my numbers this coming weekend. ;)

I agree...the list I made started as a joke, mainly because of Corey deciding to exclude any runs made during the Shootout. But after posting it, I thought it might actually be something people would enjoy participating in.

My list isn't supposed to be a top 20 in 2012 list, it supposed to be a top 20 of the YEAR rolling list that will constantly be updated to reflect what people have accomplished within the past 12 months. It also dosen't discriminate against those people who only race their cars once or twice a year at events like the Shootout.

It's just for fun, and I really don't see any reasons why both list can't peacefully co-exist.

Combined with what you said in this post

and this post, led me to believe that you were planning to exclude times ran during the 2012 Shootout.

True...my first pass of the day was in the left lane and it showed 118 mph, next pass in right lane with nearly identical 1/8 mile MPH showed 126 mph. I raced in the right lane the rest of the day.

BTW, left lane MPH was screwy at the KY HP Shootout back in Nov 2011, but that was because someone hit the timing lights earlier that day.

Well I will defintely be looking over my slips when I get home tonight. I never thought anything about it. I just thought i was losing some boost and slowing down after 1/2 track, but managed to run good MPH up to that point.
