Hello,
My manual shifter has developed some play in it!
It can move up and down now and when it moves up to far, the bottom of the shifter comes out of the ball and socket connection at the rod inside the transmission.
Also when moving left to right it moves father now.
I know that there are springs inside the transmission.
One on the drivers side of transmission.
One attached the end of the rod.
All I know is something has broke.
Any Ideas
Not interested in changing shifters, like to keep original.
Thanks!

Hello, Sounds like bushings and springs. Parts probably still available from Macs Standard Trans in Houston.800-392-8607. mackstrans.com You also might google [M5R2 shifter rebuild]

Thanks for replying!
UPDATE:
I replace the shifter with another one.
Two things,
1. Two screws out of the bushing cover was gone and the third one was lose, there's the major up and down play.
2. There is still a little up and down play in the shifter, because of missing/worn out bushing, missing springs.

They sell the bushing kits on ebay for the f150. the cover is different but the internal parts are the same. you can drill new holes in the cover and it will work also. this is what i did and my shifter is tight.

I rebuilt mine about 18 months ago. Shifts great. I found the parts and directions on line. I used the shift boot for the truck and slotted the holes.
I have no complaints.:D
