View Full Version : Dyno and Track Day

08-14-2012, 01:57 PM
So my club and I are going to be doing a Dyno and Track day october 3rd

I havent booked the dyno yet but it is a wednesday so shouldnt be a problem

After the dyno we will be cruising up to Sonoma Raceway to drag

Dynoing for sure will be:
My 91 SC
2007 Stock Mustang Shelby GT
2012 Mustang 5.0 with Borla Mufflers
My Bro's 66 vette 383 Stroker
Jame's 95 SC
Maybe my buddy's 68 Cougar 302 Mild Cam and Heads

Let me know if you are interested in joing us at both or either event :)

08-14-2012, 01:58 PM
I might be up for this. Any idea on where you want to Dyno and what the cost might be?

08-14-2012, 03:25 PM

Let us know where, who and the cost, I very likely will want to do this. Dyno for should as far as the drags depends. I know that about 1.5 months off.

Dyno will be at TPS as early as possible...I dont recommend letting them work on or tune your vehicle...simply just getting rear wheel #s

I figure 4hrs(1/2 day) and their site says $450(1 car? not sure what multiple cars will do to price)...I will call mike and ask him what he recommends for 4-8 cars not needing tuning or anything.

so lets say $450

5 cars = $90ea
6 cars = $75
7 cars = $65
8 cars = $56...etc

08-15-2012, 03:26 PM
TPS will give you HP, TQ and AFR readout/Chart for 120 a car. The 450 is for a dyno tune and on a SC it maybe a bit higher.

08-15-2012, 03:35 PM
I don't trust them with our cars and if anything I might make some changes on my own while on the Dyno. I can do the Dyno no prob but need to finish a couple things to be track ready such as my firewall install and my fuel cell straps I have still been slacking on.

08-15-2012, 06:22 PM
sounds good...I think they will do a group dyno for less than $120 a car though...?

08-20-2012, 02:21 AM
F_ck TPS

- Dan

08-20-2012, 04:02 PM
where else would you prefer?

08-21-2012, 05:28 PM
You can go ahead and use TPS. I just have no intention of doing business with somebody who lies and quite frankly wants nothing to do with Thunderbirds in general.

If you guys are just looking to do dyno pulls I would recommend my friends place Rescino Performance in San Francisco. If we are looking to do any tuning might possibly want to try Nex Gen.

08-23-2012, 05:05 PM
what kind of dyno?

08-23-2012, 06:41 PM
The Dyno is a Dyno Max and it would be $125 per car with 3 pulls and print outs.

08-24-2012, 02:07 AM
only problem is my bro's vette can only run 100 octane and he lives in campbell...not sure he will want to drive it up to san francisco

08-26-2012, 12:55 AM
Is your bro not going to sonoma after? Also is there anyone else interested?

08-27-2012, 09:48 PM
no I dont think he will ever race his vette...needs a stronger rear end setup and also has a $10k paint job on fiberglass

I have 2 other for sure dynoers and 1 other maybe

08-29-2012, 09:41 PM
Hello Jeff just a quick question can I go ahead and start to confirm for 4 including yourself possibly one other and myself for Rescino's on October 3rd or are you not interested in coming to SF. Just want to let them know so we can lock the date in. Also do you have an idea on an arrival time?

08-29-2012, 10:45 PM
at the moment I am pretty set on just dynoing at TPS because it is close, but if they give me any issues then yes I will be interested in your connection

I havent talked to TPS yet...if we go up to SF it will be for sure me and 2 other cars

Not sure my bro will go up there...also trying to convince my buddy woth a mild 68 cougar 302 to join us

08-30-2012, 12:52 PM
Ok let me know as soon as you can because I know they can fill up fairly quickly.

09-03-2012, 08:12 PM
so tps says a 2hr or 4hr block is best for 4+ cars...right now I have 4 cars which is $62.50 per person for a 2hr block.

I need to know asap if anyone else is interested...thanks

09-04-2012, 05:50 PM
This is for 10/3/12? Yes, I am still interested. Is the price for HP TQ and AFR?

09-07-2012, 11:57 AM
i believe so...it is for a 2 hour block of dyno time...if you are in that makes 5 cars...hopefully 2hrs is enough time...i am going to book the appointment next week

09-07-2012, 01:03 PM
Count me in for the Dyno but having my doubts on being ready to pass a track inspection since I have a lot to do before it's track legal. Going to do my best but we will see.

09-07-2012, 03:29 PM
Yes, Jeff I am in for the dyno, not sure about going to the track. Thanks for the work to set it up.

09-07-2012, 04:42 PM
have you done mods since your last dyno?

09-10-2012, 02:34 PM
Yes, I have added 75 mm TB, 76 MAF, 42 LB injector and a chip

09-11-2012, 02:04 PM
I forgot what you dyno'd last time...?

09-11-2012, 04:26 PM
HP was 229 and 288 torque but that was OK with just the Ported M90.

09-12-2012, 07:22 PM
you'll see better numbers for sure...

Im trying to convince my buddy with the 302 cougar to dyno but as of now we have 5 cars and I think we will need the 4.5hr block for 5 cars

09-14-2012, 03:22 PM
Dyno set up at TPS 10/3 8:30 am we have a 2.5hr block for 5 cars

James 95 SC
Bro 66 Vette
Korey 07 Shelby GT
Jason 12 5.0
Myself 91 SC

After Dyno we will get food and head out to Sonoma Raceway

09-14-2012, 06:14 PM
Please count me in on the Dyno but as I mentioned I prob won't be able to go to the races.

Thanks Dan

09-17-2012, 05:31 PM
Hi Jeff,

I hurt myself and can't drive and I not think I will be able to by the 3th. Sorry, I really wanted to know my numbers, but you can drop me and add SCDAN35thANV in my place. Also the setup on t-bird are different than other, you might think about doing the SC all at one time, either at 8:30 or at the end of the session.

09-17-2012, 06:56 PM
Hey James,

Sorry to hear you got hurt. I hope you recover in no time and if there is any thing else I can do for ya just let me know.

09-18-2012, 02:08 PM
No worries james...thanks for heads up...get better and keep us posted...I was telling Dan that TPS charges by the hour starting the clock from the first car and ending after the last so shouldnt be a problem

10-04-2012, 02:46 AM
Had a blast at dyno and track! Dan had a rough outing at the Dyno, but he should easily sort it out

Info on what my SC did can be found here:

Nice numbers, better that you were thinking right?

10-04-2012, 08:31 PM
Nice numbers, better that you were thinking right?

He wants 400 RWHP. :p

But yeah, nice numbers .. I couldnt make it to the dyno, I spent most of the morning doing math homewrk ...

- Dan

10-05-2012, 11:33 AM
yeah, but what I want and expect are 2 different things lol I want 400 so gotta start looking into what will be the next mods

10-05-2012, 06:30 PM
Hey Guys as Jeff already knows I was having issues with not building enough boost either due to belt slip or a leak in my intercooler tubes. With the 25% overdrive I am running on the MPX I should be closer to 21-22PSI. I plan on doing a leak test this weekend as well as, possibly reclocking my tensioners, and ordering up the new coated rotors from Charles.

Anyways here is my dyno sheet and sorry about the white spot my son thought it would be a good idea to put the tps sticker across the whole thing so it tore some of it off removing the sticker.

keep us posted Dan

10-06-2012, 12:43 AM
yeah, but what I want and expect are 2 different things lol I want 400 so gotta start looking into what will be the next mods

LOL, I wanted a Lamborghini .. but I settled on the Tbird. :p

You guys are both over 300 RWHP, which is a nice amount of power.

I would even be happy if my car was a little over 200RWHP.

Here was one of the best dyno videos I got and Jeff I am working on yours now just still trying to fix the lighting since my camera was having issues when I recorded yours.
