I'm the only St. Louis guy in your class. Even if you are "Lucky enough" to win the class, you still have to beat all other class winners in a bracket race based on their class index. Good Luck with that :p:D

Ken

Roughly 40 to break even. It's not the expense, it's my puzzlement over the fact that so many people routinely drive/trailer cars to the event but won't race. Racing is fun. It's not abusive by nature, it's only that way if you make it that way.

I really don't want to break Damon's car. I'd like to get started on my project and that would put unwanted delays if I had to fix something. Chances are it won't break, but things happen.

Regardless I still need tires for the SC, since I sold mine last year and may have to borrow.

Rich,

I hurt my arm golfing Tuesday and now I'm having difficulty holding a 24 OZ can of Bud Light. I don't think I can use the blinker or make left turns, but I'll still be trailering a car to the Shootout and racing it.

Did you wreck a car or just pop too many wheelies ?

There are always people willing to help out. I'll have a trailer, as long as my stuff doesn't break i'm not afraid to drive home. In my experience there are many others the same way. I broke an axle back in 07' next thing you know, somebody I never met gave me an axle, another guy threw in some power tools and a big socket for the nut and I was back on the track.

Terrible, this is looking like a dismal year unless some folks get off there butt and register.

Folks we need everyone to register! This is the one main event we hold for the SC's/Cougars and it's not like it's a surprise.

Get your junk together and get it to the event. Crap I still have my car half torn apart body wise and I am still registered and going to be there.

There should be no excuse, not quite sure why folks are waiting so long to register. You know about the Shootout and the dates months before it happens, what gives!

Lets all do some work and get the registrations in so we can make this 10th anniversary the best Shootout yet!!

Well put, Smitty.
That being said, you can't put a gun to peoples heads and make them show up. Lot's of members of this club join for access to technical help with their rides. I understand that and am perfectly willing to share any knowledge I have that may help someone.
What I don't understand is the folks that join a CAR CLUB and then whinge about having to drive somewhere.
This, as you said, is the main event!
Come on out, meet some new people, and take a chance on having some fun doing it. I don't regret any of the Shootouts that I have been to. It was time well spent. My only regret is that I couldn't attend the first four. The first one I went to I couldn't even bring my car because it blew the HG's the day before the long drive. I hitched a ride with Matt and still had a good time. Long story short, even if you can't cobble your junk together on time, come anyway!

You know that Sally, Danny, and myself will be there. There should be some others tagging along with us. Dan's engine is headed to the machine shop tomorrow and should be back this weekend. Sals car is heading into the garage to try and figure the brakes out. I have swapped pumps and checked electric motors and just cant get it to work right. It just wont put any fluid to the rear when I try to bleed them... I will have my 95 5-speed there but not my other heap.

So are you saying that the electric Abs pump is not working? Or are you saying you can't get it to come on when you bleed the rear (as in bad relay)? I vaguely remember having to cross some pins on the ABS test plug for bleeding the rear brakes on the early 89-92s. I am assuming that is what you are talking about.

Yep her car is a 92. I didnt know about crossing pins to get it to bleed the rear. I have the motor kicking in when the key is turned on and cycling. Then when the brakes are hit a couple of times it kicks in now. But I couldnt get it to bleed the brakes.... I will have it in the garage tonight and start on it again.

Brakes on Sal's car are functioning again. Really need a good accumulator ball and it will be finished up. pump cycles after pressing on the pedal two to three times. If you jab the brakes hard the ABS light comes on but if you ease down on the pedal it takes a couple times before it cycles. The old hydralic motor was shot and I also had a relay bad..... Could have been caused by the bad accumulator causing the motor to cycle so much and then shot the relay also..

Yeah and me a Viper. Thats not happening.

I assembled the M90 and thats as far as I got with it. I brought it to the kitchen the smallest crying help-less while I tried to locktite seal the rotor pack. I had to redo the procedure. I thought the coupler was installed incorrectly. But I flipped it and the spring tension felt the same.

Headers are unbolted. I dont think I will have available time to get it done.
All my special tools etc are at my moms place or in boxes. Takes more time to find things I need then actually doing work on the car.

FAIL FAIL FAIL. Winning to be determined.

That might be a good idea, or it might cause you to put the tires up in smoke coming off the line. You could always give it a try during the time trials and see what happens. BTW, the fastest car doesn't always win...sometimes it's the last man standing that wins.

So we got a slight debacle. I just dropped off the Outlander to get fix, my wife rear ended a Prius. I THINK ON PURPOSE :D. Well she has no rental coverage…..Therefore she is in the “SAAB” UTE till it gets fixed. Mom is in the Audi. I can’t leave her without a car. So means no tow vehicle even if I wanted to. The Annie must run well and be registered by next Thursday.

Another problem is that my grad school starts Monday. Therefore I need to get car stuff all done this weekend. Not sure if that’s even possible the exhaust downpipes needs to be welded to the New headers etc. They open Saturdays, But I would have to get the car registered and done by Sat morning, = Not likely to happen. I can wait till Thursday next week since I got the day off but that’s just rushing things.

School part means that I don’t know how the work load will be, its 5 weeks per course so it’s pretty accelerated. Over there I probably need to study at night, means I don’t have time for tuning and doing too much BS with the car.

So soon have to make a decision whether to just give up and slap on a stock supercharger on the blue car and take that in “slow” mode. Just park, hang out and not race etc. Seems like that would be the smart thing to do.

Clutch line is upgraded (VIPA) in that car so no clutch mishaps. The Annie still has the stock plastic one and with kooks im skeptical since I had two failures in the past.

Basically Y road is right there waiting for me.

Plan C cancel or show up in my buddies car.

Putting a motor together dirty won't necessarily eat bearings up. You'll get some good scratches, but you can distinguish between it being scratches or an oiling/clearance problem.

I've lost motors, but not bearings. For me it's always been rings, pistons, and bent connecting rods. Usually the crank comes out of it without a scratch.

I've seen a lot of SC engines/cranks with spun bearings, but I've never really figured out how they did it or why it happened other than the obvious like antifreeze contaminated oil, or just plain no oil at all.

David and I are rolling out about 8:00am ish. I think some of the others are leaving at 6:30am.

We are leaving later as I am sitting in Belfast Northern Ireland. I won't even get back to STL until 11:30pm today (Thursday). I have 24 hrs of flying to do. Ugh:cool:

Would the hop on the plane from England count towards the long haul mileage or does there need to be actual driving involved the whole way.

My room will be open in about 5min for those looking for a hotel room, if the place is booked you might want to snatch it up.

The Hammies are in the cooler, some clothes have been thrown in a bag, and a hodgepodge of cleaning stuff and tools are loaded up. We'll load the car on the trailer around 6AM, then hit the road to Kentucky. See you all there.

P.S. - I'm bringing along the last four sets of subframe connectors that I have available. If anyone is interested in checking them out, just find me at some point this weekend.
