I have hey 1989 super coupe ,I will be driving for a while and sometimes the car just shuts off.and will not start for 5 to 10 minutes. then it may do it again.any ideas could this be a crank sensor? also looking for shocks ,thank you

I had this happen to me once. In my case, it was the fuel pump. When you turn the key to the on position before starting, if you clearly hear the fuel pump running, I would check that. I was amazed how quiet a new one was when I replaced mine.

I *think* it is more likely your ignition control module. Gets hot, shuts down. Cools off, starts back up.

I would suspect the same as UBHSTRY....

It's called a DIS module.....

It stands for Distributorless Ignition System and performs the same function as the old rotery distributor.....

It is the whitish flat module near the AC compressor....

They tend to go bad when heated up....

Try this first: Get some Artic Silver from Radio Shack, costs about $12.00

Remove the DIS module and thoroughly clean both mating surfaces....

Apply all of the Artic Silver to the bottom of the DIS module and smooth it out so it covers all of the bottom of the module.....

Install the module, but be very careful not to over-tighten the 5.5mm bolts....

You do not want to squeeze out the Artic Silver from under the DIS module....
