Ok so I brought my 90 sc auto home today with a few issues.....have to hold the brake pedal down to start the car...weird! Also have the hard brake pedal issue off and on.......I have read a lot of post about what to check, so I will start that in the am, but the holding the brake pedal down to start has me confused!

Holding the brake down to start it is normal on a 90. I think it was the only year that does it. If you search the forum you can find a how to on by passing it.

Yes, '90 is the only year you had to hold down the brake to start an automatic. There used to be a sticker right next to the "PNRDD1" from the factory.

Do your ABS and/or brake lights come on....

Do you hear your ABS pump motor run when you first turn the ignition switch on....

Both lights are on....been reading on hear about some things to try.....I started the car today and tapped on the relay on the pass side firewall and I heard it click....went back in car and lights were out and brakes seemed normal....haven't driven the car yet though! Did notice the firm ride light comes on when I hit the brake pedal also!

Sounds like that relay needs to be replaced. And that is normal operation of the firm ride. When brake pressure hits a to a sertin point the firm ride automatically kick in.

Pull the relay and check the terminals.....

I'll bet they have crud on the terminals.....

If so, clean them up real good and don't forget about cleaning the female side in the wiring harness...
